Moore's Law really does apply here. Technology leaps forward every four years and it's quite scary when you look back at what we USED to consider absolutely top of the line.

haha Right!! Makes me wonder what's in the future. I mean computer hardware only needs to be so fast for the prices unless we get to like, wall sized monitors

whats crazy is the DPI of mouses nowdays. the old ball mouses used to be like 400ish DPI, now mice are up to what, 6,000DPI?

My old 286 and 386 machines didn't even HAVE soundcards .. just that awful little onboard speaker. I used to love the sounds it made in Wolf3D and Doom Very Happy

amazing! I miss those times. We gamers were so innocent. The big corporations weren't after us back then. It was all about dreams coming true Sad Sure even today we get some games that are really stunning but it seems as if a big part of the magic is gone Crying or Very sad

i remember i couldn't afford a soundcard for a long time and had found some software that ran in dos background and would emulate a soundblaster and play it out through my internal speaker
it sounded like hitler's radio, but it was better than "BEEP!"
but then again, it's not like games at the time had proper sound to begin with
wolf3d sounded almost the same when i did get a soundcard

Holy shit...!! THANK YOU! I knew I wasn't bloody crazy, lol Very Happy I had that too! I remember using it with games like Doom and Tie Fighter, they sounded great even through that horrible little speaker, but I couldn't remember the exact name so I didn't want to post in case people called me a liar and I had to struggle for hours trying to kick my memory into gear so I could remember name and post proof Very Happy
