Quote:

NVIDIA and Best Buy are working together to offer PC customers the opportunity to experience firsthand the latest in PC technologies right inside Best Buy stores. As part of this broad initiative, NVIDIA is supplying to Best Buy specific GeForce models built and supported by NVIDIA. These products will only be available at Best Buy and will complement GeForce products from our partners. We will provide more details on this next week.

Hah!!! I can't help remember what happened when 3DFX started making and selling their own cards instead of selling the GPU's. Ironically they were bought by nVidia. lol wut

BestBuy is already overpriced when it comes to computer-related hardware....

I imagine this stuff costing 30% more

It should cost more, it's standard practice.
Selling it cheaper would be stupid.

They can't undercut there board partners as it would piss them off big time.

Yeah, but that wasn't the only reason for the demise of 3DFX. I don't think nVidia will go down the same road anytime soon, but we'll see.

that's pretty stupid... they gonna loose energy in a matter they don't have the real know-how, as the many manufacturers.

BestBuy being still #1 and still in business proves how many suckers are born every day. Nvidia is making a huge mistake. Only the suckers will buy these special models from Nvidia. Common sense people will buy models that are cheaper but still do the same thing.

Yeah, but suckers exist in greater number than people with common sense.
And since this is happening in the US, well... Smug

Your second sentence contradicts the first one.

XFX is now AMD exclusive, they confirmed that today. That says something about how NVIDIA treat their partners. XFX already stopped being NVIDIA exclusive almost 2 years ago, but this is quite an interesting development. I think this is the first time a vendor has changed exclusivity like that Neutral

Well, when the manufacturer you buy shit loads of GPUs from decides to ramp up their own production of cards to compete with you, you'd either get a new agreement with better prices on the chips or move out.

XFX hasn't sold any of the Fermi cards. This wasn't really a surprise.
