So here I am, I have formatted my hard drive which is WD300GB and I have enabled AHCI in the BIOS but it does not boot with windows 7..

Do you guys think that DVR-215 is too old to be compatible? Would buying a different brand would work?

Funny because I have AHCI enabled on my laptop and DVD-DRIVE that came with it works perfectly. It boots windows 7 DVD just fine but my desktop will not.

Could this be motherboard issue or DVD-Drive issue?

When the machine POSTS is the DVD drive displayed as a detected drive? If it is shown, then the most likely cause is your primary boot device is the hard drive and not the DVD drive.

Just go into the BIOS and change the boot order so that the DVD drive is first. It's much quicker to install Windows 7 through a USB drive though.

No, I can't. It is stuck at ""Verifying DMI POOL DATA"..'

I have set my boot priority to either CD-ROM or "P0 PIONEER DVD-ROM" and second boot device is the HDD

And It will still not boot.

It doesn't matter as I do not have 4GB flash drive.

I wanted to install a hackintosh but it requires to have AHCI enabled in BIOS, but it won't boot from the DVD-ROM!

I have that problem and the simple solution is to let the Win7 DVD extract all the files to the HD after which it will do it's first reboot. This is when you changed from IDE to AHCI. Simple and effective. Smile
