Just seen a sort of review of the David Lynch movie and the reviewer is pretty much hating on... basically all of it.

So I've seen the movie. And I've read the book and while the movie is (imo) standard David Lynch work (as in crazy and fubar) I kinda liked it and I loved the book.
So am I crazy or does this girl just not have a clue about good books? O.o

In terms of the movie -

You would probably hate it if you can't grasp the fact that it was made 20+ years ago. The special effects in that movie have not held up well. So if you are some dumb 20 year old cunt; You probably wouldn't like it.

people hated it because the ending was very different from the book
the characters weren't as unique as in the book

in my opinion the movie was great. then and now.
the effects were fine, then and now.

wrong choice of actor for the lead since lynch was so in love with him...
but he did a good job.

kids hate it because it's cool to hate lynchs movies.
the series were good too.

though i wish they were less sci-fi channel quality and more bbc or so quality Neutral

Oh and the main problem people seem to have is the plot. Apparently it's hard to understand.
Granted. The plot is filled with MacGuffins at about every corner but isn't the idea of a MacGuffin that you don't think about it too much?

I just don't get what's so hard to get about the plot.
I don't remember ever having a problem following the movie.
And I've seen the movie way before I read the book.

Then again. It's a David Lynch movie.
To this day I still have about no clue what Lost Highway was supposed to mean O.o
Though Twin Peaks is still pretty awesome Very Happy

Most people also forget, that there are other books after that one. I guess thats why Lynch changed the ending, since the original book ending was clearly a cliffhanger to the next one (next is children of dune i think ?)

Dune (1965)
Dune Messiah (1969)
Children of Dune (1976)
God Emperor of Dune (1981)
Heretics of Dune (1984)
Chapterhouse: Dune (1985)

Sadly Frank Herbert died 1986, never ending the Dune Series he started (book 6 ends with a huge cliffhanger).

here the complete story arc :

The Dune universe, set in the distant future of humanity, has a history that stretches tens of thousands of years (some 15,000 years in total) and covers considerable changes in political, social, and religious structure as well as technology. Creative works set in the Dune universe can be said to fall into five general time periods:

* The Butlerian Jihad: Legends of Dune prequel trilogy (2002–2004) by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson
* The Corrino-led Imperium: Prelude to Dune prequel trilogy (1999–2001) by Brian Herbert and Anderson
* The ascension of the Atreides: Dune (1965), Dune Messiah (1969), and Children of Dune (1976) by Frank Herbert; Heroes of Dune interquel series (2008–present) by Brian Herbert and Anderson
* The reign and fall of the God Emperor: God Emperor of Dune (1981) by Frank Herbert
* The return from the Scattering: Heretics of Dune (1984) and Chapterhouse: Dune (1985) by Frank Herbert; Hunters of Dune (2006) and Sandworms of Dune (2007) by Brian Herbert and Anderson

thats quite something to read Smile
