We wanted some alcoholic beverage and went to a store with a friend.

So while looking we saw that they had Baileys. A day before that we had some mini 20cl flasks of another brand that tasted like Baileys and as I hadn't any real Baileys before I thought "why not"...
long story short right next to the Baileys was a cheap knockoff (same amount, 1/3 of the price Laughing) and we thought, yeah why shouldn't we try this one, how bad can it be?

I should note here though that we had enough money for the original one too but we really wanted to test how "good" the cheap one would be.

And after that we got some "Kleiner Feigling"
 Spoiler:

(fig with vodka, good one!) as we had that one from another cheapish brand the day before too.
 Spoiler:

So we went back to the flat and tried the Baileys knockoff first.

Fuck our throats instantly burned and it tasted and smelled so cheap Laughing I'm glad that he'll celebrate his birthday next week and we'll have the real one then Very Happy

Next was Kleiner Feigling... and what can I say? It even smells wonderful and tastes great! I can really recommend that one Smile

Cheap vodka brands used to give me worse hangovers than Smirnoff or Red Square, also some of the cheap stuff tastes a bit like hair spray or something.

If its destilled in a factory it really shouldn't matter that much. Bad moonshine is a whole other story Sad

I always drink Koskenkorva, because the 60% bottle is only 3-4 quid more than the 40% in the duty free shop Smile

No wonder, you basically have to sell your kidney to get a bottle of good 12-year old single malt. Laughing

I always go for the beer. It's very unlikely to fail with bad beer. And if you do, it's not as bad as bad vodka.

I once drank such a cheap vodka that I puked the moment I tasted it. Just couldn't keep it in. It was so disgusting.

When I went on a trip with few friends to a local hipermarket we grabbed 20 different kinds of beer. Some were bad, some better, and then there was guinness. We were terribly put off by it's taste of charred sausage that we didn't even finish it. I realize well that it's a matter of taste, and me generaly not being a fan of beer doesn't help either, but it was that bad!

It's probably because you don't like beer in general. I can handle all kinds of beers. But also I like stouts the least (Guinness, Murphy's, etc..), though it depends on the mood, sometimes they can be really great.

I guess most are repulsed by the bitterness of stouts, it is an acquired taste.

I heard that they adjust the mixture of guiness to each country much like coca cola adjustes the taste of fanta for each country. Fanta in turkey tastes great, Fanta in germany tastes like ass. It's that much of a difference.

I had my first and only guiness in an original irish pub in Frankfurt and it tasted ok. Not bad. It was my first dark beer... I have to try other ones to be able to compare it Smile

Dunno about that but the more beer travels (or wine) the more the taste suffers. Also life beer tastes often a lot better than bottled or worse canned beer. In the case of Guinness there are cans with N2 capsules so when you pour it in a glass it seems as life as when it is drafted from a cask. Btw stouts use N2 whereas most beers use CO2.

You should try an Orval some time PA Smile

I had a Guinness in a pub in Dublin and it was so smooth and creamy, a far cry from the crap they send over here in cans. I won't drink it again until I am in another Irish pub.
