TPB moves from torrent files to magnet it seems ? uTorrent doesn't show the info it shows like when opening torrent files. Also, I updated to utorrent 3 and it looks like shit compared to 2.x.x
Any recommendations ?

magnet links are a bit like ed2k links were for the edonkey network, containing only the hash
torrent clients use them to first find and download the actual torrent file and then proceed with the actual download
i have no idea how the first part of this works technically though
but it's an elegant solution
doesn't matter now if torrent links die either.. finding the magnet url in google cache will be enough
(just wish there's seeds left)

Yes, but during the opening of these magnet links, uTorrent doesn't show any real info about what the torrent contains, I even have to manually input the folder name to save it into ...

For me it asks to use utorrent to dl that...
But i rarely use torrents thse days. JDownloader + free filehosts ftw

The torrent files are still there bud, click the link in parenthesis rather than the magnet one - it says "get torrentfile" - I saw the change too and I agree; it's irritating.

Yeah, I see that alternative torrent link, but I suppose that will be removed at some point ... and magnet links will be mandatory.
Isn't there a way to make utorrent automatically download the torrent file to a temp folder and ask to open it ... then open it as normal torrent file with all info there ?

You have to download it and then when it begins download (It doesn't have to finish.) it'll show the details on what it contains (At least it does here, UTorrent 3.0 now 3.1 albeit both are buggy in my - and many others - opinion.) then you can delete the "torrent" or well the download entry if it's not what you wanted, bit cumbersome but I guess magnet links have some use though I rarely use them.
(Unless they become mandatory at which point I hope the integration is a bit better than just download and hope for the best.)

The point is to get the info before the download actually starts, so I can check out t he contents and deselect files etc

No torrents option on tpb anymore. Doesn't select folder name, can't see which files the torrent contains ... FUCK.

There are p2p clients (open-source, cant recall the name atm) where using magnet links you can select files and name folders . Just utorrent does not support that feature, yet..
