|
 |
My monitor is about to die, and i'm going to get new one(s). I'm having a "trillema" on the right monitor setup.
These are my options:
1. one 27inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution
2. two 27inch screens with 1920 x 1080 resolution
2. two 23inch screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution, with 3D capability
My first concern is, is 27inch too large? I'm mostly planning on using it on my desk sitting right in front of them.
Since they're pretty large i'll have to place them far away in order to see the whole thing(when gaming), in which case i'm not sure I can notice the resolution difference between 2560 x 1440 and 1920 x 1080.
The 23inch ones have nice resolution for their size, but they have 3D capability. Is 3D even worth it? Don't really think my graphics card can even run two monitors on 120fps.

What's your hardware?
I can't say for sure, but I think 1920x1080 on 27" is gonna look quite terrible. I've seen it on 24", and there it's good enough, but I can't imagine it looking good on any bigger.
I personally love having 2 monitors though, I've actually gotten used to it
As far as 3D goes: for games you'll need two NVIDIA GT200 or GF10x based cards (GTX 260 and up, or GTX 460 and up). For video as far as I know it doesn't really matter, as long as your graphics card has a dual-link DVI output, which pretty much every card does these days. It's not something I'd look for specifically though, 3D is still pretty fucking shit, regardless of which monitor/TV you have.

for 3d games youll need alot more than a 460.
3d halfs the framerate, you need 60fps for it to look like 30fps.
3d tech is so new i wouldnt bother you will probably wish you werent an early adopter
i'd with with choice #1 27inch @ 2560x1440

Yeah I think i'll skip the 3D.
@snoop1050 could you explain why would you go with #1? I'm kinda leaning towards two monitor setup atm actually.

2x 24", 1920x1200
23" is a bit too small, 27" a bit too big and 16:9 is a bit too widescreen (at least for my taste) if you're doing anything besides gaming and movies on them.

Why would you flip your monitor?
I'd go with 2 x 24" as bushwacka said.

can your vidcard handle 2560 x 1440 though?
1920 should be fine on a 27"

Oh and that video is for retards of course |
I beg to differ.
Working on my documents (book, really) for my final project for my degree has thought me that working with two pages open (or one page on the left and source of information to the right) is the best practice. But I guess two 9:16 (or 10:16) monitors could be great also.

Yeah I think I'll either go with two 24inch or two 27 inch ones, haven't decided that yet. Probably would be best to go to the store and check them out in person, although I'm too lazy to do anything but online ordering.

What are you using as a word processor? I did a 'script' for one lecture (more a study material) in LaTeX and I would have loved to had two monitors (I mean mine served just great but you know ). That way it would be even more easier to view the work I've done.

Eh I used Word It was a pain, but I managed.
Interestingly, I had a course in which we used LaTeX, but it was for software design using formal specifications. We used the Z notation.
I must admit, not using a WYSIWYG editor but putting script manually for mathematical formal language formulae was a pain in the ass!
