My friend asked me to compile a small list of the best (Mini) Hi-Fi systems available, she wants to hold a small party for new year's even. Problem is, I don't know jack shit about those.

She wants to spend in the range of 300-450 euros
She wants something with brand recognition (sony, panasonic, philips - according to her)
She'd like an iPhone dock integrated or compatible. Also CD, mp3, USB stick compatibility
Sleek/minmalist design
Strong enough to fill a 50 square meters room with quality bass

Please help, I'm really clueless here.

By mini hi fi are you talking the want for a stereo receiver to hook up to a computer or what....

If so I can help there but Sony Panasonic and Phillips all generally suck when it comes to audio.

She said those, not me, like I said.

I mean not just a receiver, but a complete system. She wants the speakers to be of the same brand as the receiver. Also, sleek.

Let's just cut out the mini part. So what she's looking for is a quality stereo system costing no more than around 550-600 dollars, that can be hooked up to a dock, that works with her iphone 4, but a system that also plays from CDs in various formats, important being the mp3 one. She'd also like to be able to hook up a USB to it.

Please tell me your opinion about what would fit such a bill? What are the desired brands?
