So i finish college in a few days and along other things i had to design a website with a mysql database
i made it in dreamweaver ..installed xampp .put the site files in the "htdocs" directory. all is great. the site works fine.
but now i have to take this site to those teachers to see it.
the problem is I tried taking the site files on another laptop but when it tries to connect to the database it fails. i set the user "root" in vain. installed xampp there too..but again fail.
what to do ? anyone done this before ?
or some other solution ?

oh.and another interesting fact just discovered. when i preview the files from dreamweaver with its built in option it works ok. but when i go directly to the php file and open it .. its something like a lot of code and the page doesnt work. Confused

Well honestly the fact that you made this in dreamweaver makes any diagnostics hard.. If you could provide us with the following we may be able to help you Laurentiu. I am going to assume you are using PHP to connect to the Mysql Database.

1. Provide us with the relevant apache.cfg entries.
2. Provide us with the relevent php.ini entries.

As I said, Dreamweaver is retarded so provide us with the appropriate connection string you are using to connecto Mysql.

Also. Dreamweaver uses a "Home Directory" Option in it's connection.. if you installed XAMPP on a different server make sure this is the same:
AKA - On a linux server the web directory may be /var/www/html - making the web directory html... while on an IIS server the web directory may be D:\www\vhosts\httpdocs\ making the web directory httpdocs. This only generally affects FTP connections, but it's a possibility.

EDIT: If you would rather not provide this Data on an open forum, please send me a PM and i will give you my Yahoo IM.
