Sad

Went to a friends house with my PS3 (It was in the car). Was waiting for him to come let me in the gate when two highschool(ish) teens walk up and start asking if they could borrow 5 bucks for a cab ride. Then, a larger (late 20's) dude comes up with what seemed to be a glock compact stuck it in my face and told me he wanted my cash. Then he saw the PS3 in the back seat and took that as well.

How hard is it to get a license to carry?

Had my 5 year old nephew with me as well, he had no clue what was going on but still, these guys have no fucking morals.

Well, the bright point is that they took the PS3 away from you. The negative side is the experience of being robbed obviously. But I can see the logic in your question about getting a license, but seriously, when you have a glock in your face you're not really in a position to open the glove compartment or dig in your pants to get your gun.

Licenses for handguns is harder to get than for rifles afaik.

reach for gun = shot in face

or I guess the other outcome is you have to live with killing someone over a ps3. sure those lowlifes might not mind, but I'm guessing you're a fairly normal guy.

Shoot them in their legs and kneecaps, perhaps the elbows as well so you make sure they'll have injuries that will always remind them of what robbery can result in.

On the other hand, what would the 5-year old think and feel when he saw you shooting/killing humans? Some smegged up shit.

Whatever you do Don't feel guilty, you had NO choice, any other thing would have probably got you shot, those were some angsty youth and they're more cruel than you might think, besides you had a 5yo with you and seeing you getting shot in the face is seriously gonna fuck him up he'll never be mentally healthy again.

you can report it to the cops and give them a sketch, but don't expect that PS3 back they probably already sold it for drug money.

also, PS3 has no games anyway

I honestly almost feel bad for the guys. I've had all day to think about it, what is weird is, until just about an hour ago while driving home from Iron Man 2 (amazing) it hasn't really hit me.. now I feel like FUCK I coulda just died.

Ah well, one day these kids will try and rob someone and get shot in the back as they book it.

Find them, corperal punishment and then a work-detention camp for the rest of their lives. Scum like this does not deserve to exist in our society.

Shit that sucks man, but the main thing is that you live to game another day. You can always buy another console later on. Fighting for it would not be worth the risk of being seriously injured or killed.

This is a serious crime though and you should definetely report it to sony. Give them the serial number and you never know, it might show up connected to the PSN at some point in which case they could alert the police.

Courteous and apologetic. Now that's how you rob someone without causing a trauma or death.. Wink

difference in EU is that 1) you know the person you're robbing is likely not armed and 2) you know you're not going to get heavy jail time even for armed robbery so there is no point in 'eliminating witnesses'

Interesting, never thought about it like that. Is there any articles, research to back this up ?

Or is it just theorizing on your own ? Smile

I think it's well-known that the USA has a harsher penalty system for 'minor' infractions. Here you'll usually get a community service thing for robberies. I don't know about guns though, common street robbers usually have knives and such.

also the three strikes law means if it's #3 you should go down with guns blazing since you're getting automatic life without parole (even if you just have weed on you).

to some degree theorizing on my own, although I have read similar (where I'm sure they cite sources).

the problem is you're dealing with people's perception of length of punishment and their perceived chance of getting caught rather than the actual punishment and actual probability of getting caught. I think to some degree as well people will do what they want regardless of the law because they don't think they will get caught (this is often why 'getting tough on crime' does fuck-all to actually reduce crime, just increases the # of people in jails).

This is also a big argument against the death penalty, because someone who believes has nothing to lose ("if I get caught, I get the death penalty anyway"), so they could go on a murder spree, or just shoot their way to escape police.

That sucks bro. Report it to the police and if that doesn't produce results...well...call some of your boys, make some discrete inquiries and sort it out yourself...if you catch my drift. Very Happy

gun in your face = shut up and do what you're told.

People saying to get a gun are dumb , sorry, cause like already said : reaching for a gun with a gun in your face = death.
