Simply asked - which country do you think has the best musical score for a national anthem?
Please, let's keep it civilized! We know each and everyone one of you loves his country and gets goosebumps when they hear their country's anthem, but all the patriotic feelings aside, which one do you like best - musically speaking - NOT politically.

I totally disagree with you on that. I think the Israeli anthem is very powerful compared to other anthems that I've heard. It has a sense of struggle and victory, unlike a few others that seem to be cheerfully boring.

Hands down the Soviet anthem which was modified and is now the Russian anthem.
Disclaimer: I am not from russia/soviet union, have never been there or have friends/family there.
I guess it's just due to watching too many war movies in the 80s. The lyrics are ofcourse very ironic and nonsense even in today's context but it is the whole group singing together during the whole song that really gets you pumped and ready to fight 'capitalists and their running dogs'.

I actually think the Israeli one is pretty decent though it suffers from the problem that it sounds pretty depressing (that's without knowing the lyrics)
And best version of the Soviet Anthem is the one from Hunt for Red October. That scene still gives me goosebumbs today
And I still really really like the original German one but mostly because of it's text *clears throat*

I like the Danish anthem very much. Not because it is a particularly brilliant song but it's very easy to remember and sing along to thus making it awesome at stadiums

My polish friends answering machine answered. I think he will be pretty amused, that I recorded 2 minutes of the soviets national anthem (and dubbed the russian parts with my voice shouting "POLSKA POLSKA".)
