Torrent sites are at the same place where Limewire and Kazaa were a few years ago, on the verge of extinction. Funny, to think that it was torrents that put those networks there and now it's facing the same fate. Now we're back to http file-sharing and we've come full circle.

yeah i think this is a bit of a pity. ive kicked my public torrent habit and dont use them anymore, but every now and then for a single song or a hard to find item, ill usually find it quick and easy on mini, so its sad to see it 'go'... but yeah isohunts still around, so itll be interesting to see how long they can dodge the bullet.

Indeed, the only good they've served me is when I've been looking for something rare or weird... Like very specific ebooks or foreign movies that haven't been released by the scene (usually asian ones).

And of course anime, but then again, I mostly just go to the irc channel of the group who subbed it and downloads the episode that way, faster and easier. Razz
exactly only time I use it too^^

Believe it or not : Yes

Got all 7 seasons of 24 from a public torrents. Sure it was slow as fuck and took like 5 days Laughing but in the end i still got them and they are fine. I work all the time so i just start a torrent and go to work and rince and repeat. They are also useful at not fucking up your ratio on hard to seed private sites , especially if you're not in hurry.

So yeah PT still have their use , at least for me.

You can get all kinds of weird shit on public trackers. I just use a search engine that compiles most of the big public trackers, like demonoid, torrentz and tpb. Like bt-junkie

If you don't care about the wait you might as well switch to ed2k. It has atleast as much if not more crap than torrents.

That too

Private sites who archive old stuff are quite rare. There are a few like Bitsoup and others but those are few.

Btw i wouldn't consider Demonoid a public site. I would call it semi private since you still need a registration but unlike a place like TL , ST or TB it opens up once in a while. Like the site too but it has been down for almost 2 months now. They say it will be back up but i don't know why it take so long (they say server crash problems but meh)

Liked Mininova because it was easy to browse and i liked the layout. I use TorrentZap as a replacement now since it's pretty much a copy of what Mininova was.

Never liked TPB since it always was and looked like a huge clusterfuck to me. It's also full of fakes . viruses , malwares ect. It's a recurrent problem on public trackers but TPB seems to be worse than many others in that department.

By far the BEST public site for TV shows. Nothing beat it really

Only downside is that torrents can be a bit slow not long after an episode for a particular show is out considering that there are like a 1:3 seeder/leecher ratio. It get better after after couple of days but i would use something else if you want to get what you want ASAP. Still a pretty good site nontheless.

eztv is pretty outstanding, I agree.

I'm not stressed over torrent trackers, though -- if they all got closed down tomorrow, within a day we would have new ones. Or an entirely new P2P technology. Or something. And no one ever seems to go after usenet.

The suits can't stop the YARRRR!
