|
 |
Quote: | In the near future, eight astronauts from five countries (four women and four men) undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission covering thirteen billion kilometres. With the eyes of the world upon them - everything they do is monitored, and every emotion they feel, scrutinized - they soon discover that their real assignment is not at all what they thought. |
Watched the pilot just now...not bad at all. Of course the girls are a tad to pretty and the guys...well you know. One of the main characters is played by "Ron Livingston" (Captain Lewis Nixon in Band of Brothers)
As far as I know there are 5 episodes out at the mo.

mentioned in the new tv shows thread;
Quote: |
defying gravity is a relationship drama in space with ridiculous physics
if you're expecting scifi of any kind, you'll be disappointed
-
About Defying Gravity. It's so awesome actualy having sometimes with semi-decent budget having those tiny bits of Sci-fi, as there is an obvious gap left after the good stuff that is over. And it seems like we will be getting a lot more sci-fi elements in it very soon. And who the fuck cares about social drama when there are fucking higher-form-psycho-dna-altering-aliens on our motherfucking plane!
-
the show looks good and might have potential, but it's clear the direction they've chosen
the third episode didn't advance the story in the slightest
just more of the useless relationship drama
if they would have even given the science the slightest bit of thought, i could give it some leeway, but when they pull stuff out of their ass, like astronauts being able to launch from ground to orbit and meet the orbiting craft within an hour from the moment they decide to do so... or magnetic suits for artificial gravity... or magical hole-plugging saliva...
and what the hell is with the libido? do all people suddenly turn into sex crazed maniacs in the future? why would anyone let these fratboys near a launch pad?
|
also, the fifth episode just dropped

but yeah anybody got any idea?

I've downloaded the first few episodes myself. I'm a fan of films like Sunshine, Solaris and so on.... so hopefully it taps into that.

Summary about this series:
ITS "Mission to Mars" made as a series
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0183523/
go watch this movie seriously because they are stretching this STOLEN concept from this movie SO thin it makes no fun watching this crap

"With Mission to Mars, director Brian De Palma has reached a new nadir. Easily the worst movie to date of 2000 (although the year is still young...), Mission to Mars beats out such worthy contenders as Supernova, Eye of the Beholder, and Isn't She Great. Ineptly directed, badly acted, and scripted with an eye towards stupidity and incoherence, the film is worthwhile only to those who are in desperate need of a nap. And, as is often the case when a big budget, high profile motion picture self-destructs, this one does so in spectacular fashion. Sifting through the rubble, the only salvagable element is Ennio Morricone's score - music that, while not among the composer's top work, is infinitely better than anything else in this misbegotten movie."
...are you actually recommending the movie or just highlighting the similarities?

Seems that this show is cancelled ;< this is from wikipedia..
" September 14, 2009, online sources have noted ABC's apparent cancellation of the series following the announcement of the eighth episode as the "series finale" without advertising additional episodes. There are currently two online petitions attempting to get ABC's attention and to save the show from cancellation"
Just when i started to like this show, its getting cancelled, fuck you ABC!

It really isn't worth watching ANY TV these days. Everything is cancelled, most of the time it's even in the first season!
FUCK TV. Fuck ABC. Fuck Fox. Fuck any of these money-grabbing cuntish publishers. "Ooooh, our show didn't draw 20m viewers today, it's obviously not making us enough money. Axe it"
I'd line up all those execs and CEOs and fucking shoot them in the head.
=Update=
Officially cancelled, but CTV (Canadian TV) are broadcasting the final three episodes (ABC canned it at Ep8, CTV is showing Eps9, 10 and 11) still.

"The show's publicist, Nicole Marostica, issued a statement on 14 September 2009 that ABC is not canceling the show. ABC management is attempting to decide on a time slot to air the remaining 5 episodes of season 1"
