Yeah, even though I'm a little bit over 17 I still remember playing Contra on NES (or rather Pegasus, a Chinese copy of NES that got into Poland in the 90s. Yes, in the 90s, we didn't have NES in 80s unfortunately.

Man, those were the times...

Play with emulators; any decent one will have graphics filters that make even NES games look decent.

i usually have too much on my mind to focus on a game for hours, as a kid you came home from school and just played for hours till you had to go to bed.

ofcourse. who in their right mind would still play a nes game without save states? Shocked

I beat Contra (or Probotector as it was called in EU) on the original NES, and I did try it again without saving on a computer...

Suffice to say that didn't go well at all.

when youre young you dont really have anything real to do. you dont have real life distractions so you can loose yourself in the games.
There are also much more games to play. You play it and when you dont instantly like it you go on to try the next one and so fort.
In the past you had to do it with x amount of games

Good times. Very Happy

get a job, that will keep you busy + no time to spend months on a single game. Looking back i wasted so many hours on playing games when there is so much to see in the world!

And once you start working, there is no chance to do crazy stuff like deciding to take a plane to norway and trek around for a week and then just fly to italy to go to watch AC milan and then go home.

And about the games. There are like only 3 or 4 types of games. you have seen it, there is nothing more they can make. logical you get bored

I think it's called growing up. You become less fixated on things as you get older. I've noticed it, I used to be hooked on CS 1.3, 1.4 etc but now, games dont engage me for the same length of time.

This.
That is what always happens to me as soon as a console I own gets cracked.
I've got a HDD full of Wii games. Half of those barely touched. Xbox 360 the same.
The 3 PS3 games I have, I'm playing them till I've got and done everything there is in the games.

Your priorities change (if not it should), you get the "been there done that" feel because you've played gazillion games, you're saturated and expect pure genius from every game and getting games for free devaluates them.

I played any game I could find ten years ago. Not because it was all great, simply because it was all new to me. This was also teh case when I bought the Xbox360. Everything was new, everytihng was great. Untill I'd played 10+ games, then it all gets "meh".
