Just curious. I never do that, since the net connection got better, there is no point in getting a castrated version. Besides, when I had RIPS (few years ago) I always had issues with their compatibility, installing and stuff. The last RIP I had was Fallout. No sounds, no death animations except one. No pleasure in playing it.
Still some people rip games and release them, it seems that some people also download?

Ripping I find more an art then cracking iso, because for a rip you still need to crack (only thing ISO group has to do) and rip some shit, then high compress it etc.

But I dont download rips Very Happy

GTA 3
And some various strategy games. But apart from that, I never did and I am sorry to say, I turn my nose up at them these days.

Rips are great, and many of the games released today don't deserve an entire CD.

Rips are also more indicitive of the cracking scene - taking a virgin program and molesting it to resemble an experienced, efficient, high-priced hooker.

The CLONECD scene, on the other hand, just preserves the virginity. Where is the excitement in that?

Rips are probably more convenient for people with low bandwith, like 56k users.

Depends.. if its something I dont want and I only want to see what its like I download the rip (only if nothing is ripped (or nothing of any importance))

If its a game I want, its allways ISO.

Same here.

The whole point of rips was to make a more efficient package because people didn't have enough bandwidth to download the whole game. There is no point in doing this anymore, it might be more of an art, but it's completely useless nowadays...

Ahhh all the memorys , cable connection, warez sites, rips the good old time. I found downloading 4-5 years ago more challenging then now.It could takes a hole day to dl a rip, and you had to be quick, beacuse the mirrors went up for like a hour and went down again Sad. Now we have fiber connections 100Mbit pure in our anus (at least here in sweden) dl a Iso in less then 10min and DVD-R in 1 hour. The good old times Very Happy

Rips where fine back in the days I had a 56k connection, they are easier to share when you have limited ressources and of course they are the best of what any scene group can do as it require more skills than any other format. I used to collect everything for a good 2-3 years but I haven't downloaded a single rip for at least 3 years and I don'T think I will ever download one again in my life, unless a rip is releaased before an ISO and I'm dying to play the game!

Same here, downloads rips just for the coding, installers etc... There is usually some serious coding in them impressive.....
