|
 |
This comes and goes from time, I want one but dont really have any use as I dont really like console games. But nice to have a blu-ray player and play some little big planet once in a while.
Any other good games on the horizon making the ps3 worth getting? I dont play fps on consoles thats just queer. The new Batman was a bore for the pc, might be more suitable on ps3 with the controller.
Or should I get an xbox360 instead? Chip it up and leech away? Wii? Gahh why cant we go back to the days of snes.

If I wanted to buy a console, I would buy a PS3.
MGS4, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2....
Though if you wanna go the easy way, you could get a X360.
I'm still happy with my PC.

i'd say the 360 and ps3 are just about equal when it comes to game libraries...check gamerankings or similar sites for a list of the best exclusives, then decide based on the games, not the consoles themselves.
if you're considering a wii: well worth it for multiplayer sessions, lightgun games and several good niche games, but that's it.

I got a regular PS3, never looked back.
BluRay movie collections ftw too.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Before you decide this I want you think about blu-ray for a minute as your not going to use the console for gaming use as your primary reason.
How much movies do you actually watch?
Have you actually compared blu-ray to DVD's and made your personal judgment if its worth it?
How often or at all do you pirate movies and burn them?
Do you like mudkips?

I almost only watch HD movies, leeched rips which I run from my pc hooked up to my reciever. So I hardly ever have any need of buying movies. thats another reason why Im so hesitant in getting the ps3. But Im considering getting the matrix trilogy in bd and lotr extended when its released next year. Got an hd-reciever so wanna try out some bd but I could just get a bd burner and leech the disc.
I just want the damn thing sitting on my home ent setup along the tv, reciever and big ass speakers. I feel incomplete now.
I actually had a ps3 which I sold last year, but the slim is faster and nicer with bigger disk. Gah I might get one after all...

If you are already using your PC for the same task then why not just simply get a blu-ray drive for it which is likely to come in handy in the future as well. This way you can use your PC as your blu-ray player and still use your TV. You could also buy all the movies that you please.
I would find it a waste to buy a PS3 simply for blu-ray when you could go this route and spend the money on the movies you want. Once blu-ray players drop in price then you can just go out and get one.

Why get a bd player just for movies when you can get a ps3 for both movies and gameplay. Thats my only reason for getting the ps3. The gaming is just an added bonus.
Sure its more expensive than a standalone bd or a bd player for the pc but its worth it.
Thats it im getting one in a few months...

I wrote a few comments on some of the PS3 exclusives here in this thread, if that helps, although I didn't list all of them (either released or upcoming). If your PC is anything like mine it also sounds like a tank in comparison to the PS3, so you'll find watching BluRay on the latter is much better - particularly in quiet scenes. It does a pretty good job of upscaling DVD's too so you'll be covered there.
PS3 is a great system, with great games, and great value. Go for it.

Nah my system is very quiet. Have it in the same room and hardly hear any kind of fan sounds or disk usage. But yeah you get upscale for dvds which I hardly watch but good to have.
Getting a new tv furniture this month so all will be set for the ps3.

tbh If you where going to go for an xbox then I would just buy a gamepad for your PC and have done with it because there are only very few exclusives for it that are worth having, and most of the best games come to PC sooner or later anyway. If you think the exclusive titles on PS3 are worth it then go for it, at the end of the day it comes down to how bad you want to play those exclusive titles. If it's just for the blu ray the why not pick up a blu ray drive for your PC far cheaper and most likely more versatile.
