Just watch a 2 hour 'Documentary' on TV of Nostradamus and his predictions or 'Quatrains' about the end of the world......
I've never seen a 'Documentary' that lacked any facts.......SOOOOOO stupid.
See if you can find it man. Nostradamus 2012 is the name of it. It was on the Canadian History Channel but I'm sure its also been on the American History Channel.
The one we get in Canada is the American one but it also has Canadian stuff on it aswell as American (unlike the American which just has American stuff on it).
All the 'experts' are a fucking JOKE. One of em is an 'Archaist Futurist'...

One guy said by the summer 2010, there will be no ice in the North Pole and Antarctica...it will ALL be melted by then.....

Not to mention that on December 21st, 2012, the magnetic fields are going to reverse allowing in cosmic radiation and solar flares etc...

But people like my idiot brother....they believe EVERYTHING that is said in such shows because a) its on the history channel b) they have 'experts'
The 'Documentary' was on Sunday at 8pm and I saw my brother the next day and he had watched it. And he started telling me about it and I informed him that all those people were authors promoting their apocalyptic 2012 books - no scientific background.....wait....one guy had a PHD in PHYSICAL EDUCATION!
But my brother went on and on how the world is going to end in 2012 etc
Those types of idiots are the ones I'm scared for you know. Its completely sad.
Ever since my brother's stupid, idiotic wife converted him to....I dunno, some sort of Christian religion, he believes anything.......
Sorry for rambling but I've been brooding on this since Sunday night.

Actually, there is evidence that in the past there have been multiple geomagnetic reversals, which have occur with intervals as small as 250,000 years. The last time it happened was about 800,000 years ago, so it could potentially happen in the near future.
The problem with the prediction made on that show is that all evidence suggests that the change in polarity occurs over hundreds of years. So if it was going to happen by 2012, we would know about it already.
However, there are events known as geomagnetic excursions, whereby unusual fluctuations in the flow of liquid ferrous material in the outer core causes disorganisation of the magnetic field, which can result in it adopting a multipole configuration. This kind of configuration results in a field of similar strength, but of far shallower depth then what currently exists. The final result being a temporary drop in relative magnetic field strength at the earth's surface to less then 20% of normal. This can last for up to 10,000 years, and of course would expose us to potentially lethal levels of solar radiation.
The initiating factor of these 'excursions' is not very well understood, so once again a prediction is pure speculation. That said, it would be a cosmic coincidence if one happened in 2012.

The thing is can we truly be sure of when anything like that would happen? Something could go quirky in next week and we all dissapear in a matter of milliseconds for some reason.... Its probably better to try not to think of such large scale dissasters, its not healthy

Yeah I know man (seriously, I do).
But you have to watch the show. See if you can find it. It will fuckin blow your mind how wrong the so called 'experts' are.
One guy says that next summer all the ice at both poles will be completely melted....
Oh, and my favourite is that its not the fact that we burn a ton of fossil fuel and such thats helping global warming along, its the Sun's fault entirely.
The Sun is responsible ENTIRELY for Global Warming......
