Side by Side usually means VC++ redists, install the 2005 version, 2005 SP1 version and then the 2008 and 2008 Sp1 versions, first 32 bit and then 64 bit of you have a 64-bit OS, all these packs are available from Microsofts website.
(Most games uses 2005 and 2005 SP1.)

That's a bit much actually but thanks, as a sort of joke to the above mass URL posting it's kinda like how Microsoft should have combined some of the above downloads instead of having the end-user who wants to be up to date having to install all 12 of them.
(And to make it worse they keep overwriting one another via various files as they don't exactly use the WxS / Side by side folder layout so 2005 will overwrite 2005 sp1 - and a lot of games install 2005 instead of SP1 and on the same level 2008 will overwrite SP1, plus it'll bug a bit on x64 so SP1 is kinda needed afterwards as a core system file will otherwise end up on C:\ along with some debug and temp files and now those extra updates for 2005, 2008 and 2008 SP1 must be installed as of a recent security update, pretty annoying to keep all that stuff sorted, thank whatever higher deity or thing that might be that DirectX doesn't behave that way as it's even more of a mess with every version from March 2008 to March 2009 being shipped in todays titles, I just rip them right out and tell the game to ignore any missing files, same goes for any VC++ redist due to the above reason.)

Bit of a rant but I'm a bit tired, had my first OS crash with W7 (Nothing major, GPU related mainly but IE8 hates it as it removes all cookies and internet history when the OS crashes - damn if I know why, has been like that since IE7 -, which takes a bit of time to rebuild and correct, plus clearing the Windows Error report and reliability history charts.) as I tested Crysis to see how far you could take things (Stupid thing I know.), turns out that trippling the Ultra settings look fantastic (Sorta, it kinda looks the same but with massive view and draw distance for every object, most visual changes are from ToD tweaks.) but five minutes or something like that at 1 FPS a second and the GPU will simply give out and the OS needs to be forcefully shut down and restarted.
(No damage or anything, just like another reboot minus the IE7/IE8 issue and the extra work - Ofcourse this would probably have killed the poor GPU completely had I tried it - http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,690489/Crysis-at-6-400-x-4-000-Ultra-High-Res-Gaming-with-256-megapixels/Practice/ )

Ah the perils and opportunities with testing and tweaking beyond what would normally be considered standard or even safe. Very Happy

EDIT: Damn URL, 25.6 megapixel resolution, not 256 megapixel resolution, I'm a bit odd but not downright crazy when it comes to tweaks and adjustments. Razz

Bit of a odd thread bump but after checking you only need the latest version of these VC++ redists, they overwrite older ones. Smile
(Unfortunately older ones overwrite common files outside the WxS folder structure as well.)

That would be the 2005 SP1, 2008 SP1 and now also 2010 releases.

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=11895

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=13523

(Not much using 2008 and nothing is using 2010 at the moment but useful to know, x86 is recommended as all 32-bit applications will use it and x64 for the few 64-bit ones like say Crysis.)

EDIT: Updated 2005, 2008 and 2010 redists to latest possible version.

You can install SP1 versions of runtime DLLs directly, no need to install plain C++ Runtime before SP1.
