|
 |
So I tried to make an HDR picture and turned out pretty well, on my computer (picasa viewer, photomatix, adobe lightroom 2) it looks great, very virbrant and detailed. But no matter where i fucking upload it to, everything gets ruined in the picture, color loss, darker, all that jazz.
How the fuck do I get this picture uploaded so it looks how it's supposed to? Tried my blogspot and does the same thing as tinypic.com

think it depends on the filesize.. most hosts have a max filesize and if it goes over that, the site resizes and/or ups the compression... its a pain in the ass... maybe try imageshack?

HDR = 16bit
usual jpeg = 8bit
don't know for sure, but my guess would bet that the hosts simply do a miserable job when compressing it down. but why would you want to display a 16bit HDR pic anyway? almost every monitor can just display 8bit, some professional ones 10bit.

That's true, what you usually do with HDR images is use the HDR data to fix/modify exposure. But could you post a problematic version so I can see what exactly you mean?

They're converting your image, it's not the "upload" itself that messes up the quality.
High-compressed JPEG:s completely ruin colour, and add tons of artifacts, and these sites generally use JPEG, because higher quality formats (such as PNG) tend to increase bandwidth costs.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

still 404
just (batch) convert your HDR pix to 8bit when they're finished or get your own hosting.

Looks to me like the "better" pic is just desaturated, that's all. :\
