So I tried to make an HDR picture and turned out pretty well, on my computer (picasa viewer, photomatix, adobe lightroom 2) it looks great, very virbrant and detailed. But no matter where i fucking upload it to, everything gets ruined in the picture, color loss, darker, all that jazz.

How the fuck do I get this picture uploaded so it looks how it's supposed to? Tried my blogspot and does the same thing as tinypic.com

think it depends on the filesize.. most hosts have a max filesize and if it goes over that, the site resizes and/or ups the compression... its a pain in the ass... maybe try imageshack?

flickr and imageshack doesn't work either, this is fucking retarded!

ok seriously WTF!, I took a prntscreen of it, pasted the screenshot in paint, uploaded it to imageshack AND blogspot and both turned out perfect, what the fuck!

This is what every site is doing reguardless of filename

 Spoiler:

this is what it's supposed to look like and I have to open it up in paint, crop out all the printscreen extra start bar and shit

ugh wtf, I have to open the printscreen in paint, crop out the tool bar bullshit then upload the picture to get it how it's supposed to look

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_RsoECWjxwKY/SoREvbH7G4I/AAAAAAAAADI/eRgwcHkvXZo/s1600/untitled.PNG

this is what every site does it if i upload it like normal without the printscreen bullshit

http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/51/finishedhdragainre.jpg

I tried the normal upload method with every possible extention I could think of and it's all the same, even saving the picture as jpeg looks like it's supposed to on my computer than it does after I upload it.

HDR = 16bit
usual jpeg = 8bit

don't know for sure, but my guess would bet that the hosts simply do a miserable job when compressing it down. but why would you want to display a 16bit HDR pic anyway? almost every monitor can just display 8bit, some professional ones 10bit.

That's true, what you usually do with HDR images is use the HDR data to fix/modify exposure. But could you post a problematic version so I can see what exactly you mean?

They're converting your image, it's not the "upload" itself that messes up the quality.

High-compressed JPEG:s completely ruin colour, and add tons of artifacts, and these sites generally use JPEG, because higher quality formats (such as PNG) tend to increase bandwidth costs.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

you can see a huge difference. photomatix and lightroom won't export the picture as .png which is what the colorful one shows up as, which I had to printscreen the fucking thing etc.

But the fucked up part is the JPEG's I have on my computer of the HDR looks perfect, its only when I upload them they look like the .jpg I posted.

So blogspot scenerio:

Upload jpeg up perfect look, it looks like shit, upload png of perfect look, it's perfect

just (batch) convert your HDR pix to 8bit when they're finished or get your own hosting.
