I remember having a real thing for H&D, too. I suppose Arma is about the closest modern game.

You'll probably never get another game like that. They're considered boring, slow paced, difficult and not fun by todays terms. Apparently todays winning formula is to copy COD to exhaustion. I'm actually curious to see how Hitman 5 will be like considering this trend.

nothing like H&D1 or 2 afaik.

maybe "Death to Spies", which is more like a Hitman-esque WW2 game, but you can surely derive some H&D2 elements.

Hmm...well, deadly dozen (or was it deadly 6) is sort of like H&D but dumbed down so to say. It wasn't such a bad game, just that it wasn't H&D either. o.O

And that is why we will unfortunately never see such a great series....just too complicated for the masses.

But seriously, did you even bother looking at the controls....its pretty clearly labeled as squad commands.

I looked at the controls but I don't remember anything about that.

I just wanted them to follow me and I ended up moving them individually until halfway through a mission i gave up because it was too much work

You can order them as a group or individually to follow, hold fire, open fire, stay, etc. With a bit of planning you can pull of some nice ambushes for example.

It does take a bit of getting the hang of it.

I highly suggest getting the hang of switching between members, learning how to use inventory and equipping the team right. And of course learning the orders to make any use of it all.

HD1 was the only good one, 2 was the start of things to turn and ending up like craptastic feel of desert siege on xbox styleeee..

HD was at least rather groundbreaking with its openish sense of environment.. I remember the fitst time landing in the forest with the parachute Very Happy was good times, and the train area on the bridge, very good for its day Very Happy

For squad type play, the new Operation Flashpoint is similar but I hated the squad AI in that. They cling to you.

The new Operation Flashpoint was a dumbed down rip off of the first and the Arma series. It had no elements linking it to the H&D series.

yeah, ARMA 2 I guess, which is a shame?

There have been one or two lame variants recently like Raven Squad, and Frontlines.

Frontlines although a shootier style game is ok. I did enjoy H&D 1 and 2, my son's playing that and MOH at the moment and he loves them.

same as alot of other types of games they wont go down well with the console crowd so they cant port them to pc.

i wish someone would treat the pc as a seperate platform again

A new Hitman would probably be like this:

 Spoiler:

BTW, try the first Ghost Recon. The gameplays is pretty much like H&D. Even better IMO. Wink
