Are you sure it's completely dead? I dropped one of mine and screwed it up pretty bad but I was able to recover most of the movies (even with errors the mkv just shows a slight glitch and still play through)

I used a program called GetDataBack, it recovered everything pretty well and without me having to do too much.

well, don't think so actually :/

A friend of mine bought one of the first 250gb WD external HDDs. One of those flash ones with neon light in lol. Died after a 2 foot drop :/ Got back his money on the warranty, so no big hassle.

But iv heard the Mac Books is built much better than those other external WDs. Iv got the other one too, both 1 TB external discs.

Got 4 external HDDs because im on a laptop ...and a USB hub is cheap Very Happy

Well you can always buy a second hard drive like the one which you had. And the open and exchange the plates.

I bought a new 1 tb one (they are sorta cheap 90 ish euro's), and will start over again, luckily I exchange movies with a friend of mine on a regular basis and he has quite a few of the movies still that I had.
