Ok I'll join a Ventrilo server then be talking to everyone and then I'll launch Battlefield 2 or whatever - I'll then join a server and be hearing everyone in Ventrilo for atleast one good solid round of Wake Island then I suddenly can't hear anything said in Ventrilo - I also notice my frame rate drops and everything becomes extremely annoying but I continue playing...

I unchecked the box 'Allow appliciations to take exclusive control of this device" under Speaker Properties. Then I restarted Windows and tried again - and I'm getting the same problem - so is this due to the beta drivers or is there something I'm missing here?

I'm not sure if it's Vetrilo's network failing because everyone else is using XP or Vista and doesn't have the same problem - and I've recently checked the Ventrilo forums and it seems I'm not the only one experiencing these problems...

What in the hell is "auzentzenchodoofus" lol - I'm not accustom to Ventrilo and I don't have much experience with Windows Vista so that doesn't help me out when it comes to Windows 7 but I'm pretty sure this is a Windows 7 conflict somewhere - and just incase my signature doesn't pop up this time I have a XFi Xtreme Music - and I'm pretty sure I'm using the official beta drivers released not too long ago by Creative...

IIRC, Run Vent in Admin mode, there was a bug at the begining of Vista release with WoW that did the same thing you are reporting, luckily wow was going through patches at the time and blizzard fixed it in game rather than waiting for a Vent release. But you are using Win7 with creative drivers.. (I shudder just thinking back to the Vista Release)

Ripped my SB Fatailty out of my windows 7 machine in the end, got fed up with Creative and their shite drivers, Plus they didn't learn anything from the Vista fiasco where people were waiting for driver support upto 6 months after the initial Vista Release. Never did release the FULL driver software suite for Win Vista either as they promised, and Judging by the half hearted drivers for windows 7 i dont think they will be much better.

Had some initital probs with my Fatality with the beta drivers, decided to try my onboard ripped out the card, enabled the onboard, and haven't looked back since.

Note: I see that Creative are slowly putting out beta build drivers, might be worth you to keep watching them updates, and also look for the fan made drivers, they were really good in the first few Win7 Beta Builds, could be some good updates there aswell.

Didn't think of that - thanks I'll give it a shot - and what about games? Do you need to run them in admin mode aswell or does that not make any difference?

Oh, I remember I had one of Creatives old Sound Blasters - can't remember which one - during the time when XP was the only good Windows Operating System and out of nowhere screeching sound of death would poor out and even lock up the computer. After trying multiple different drivers and troubleshooting I ended up tearing the card out of my computer and swore to never buy another Creative product - they really know how to support their customers!

I even remember hearing they were going to charge customers for driver updates and send them out on discs - which is really quite stupid when you could allow secure downloads instead of wasting money burning media!
