|
 |
In macs when you press and hold T as you boot, it'll treat the entire machine as an external hard drive. Can you do that in windows? or something like it? my laptop / netbook / notebook crashed and i don't really have a CD / DVD / A drive so i can't really boot into dos.
is there anything i can use to lets say access a computers hard drive w/o removing it? click a couple buttons, connect a couple cables, back up 800gigs of stuff and then reformat?
or how do i fix c0000218 on a netbook?

c0000218 is registry failure, one of the registry hive files is corrupted. you really need to take the hdd out and put it into another pc if you have no dvd drive etc. if you can do this then restore backups of reg hives http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

if you can usb boot then you can do the registry recovery to boot back into windows. this would be the easiest method to try first, if it doesnt work then backup files, format and reinstall. how are you intending to store the backups? and how are you intending to reinstall windows without cd/dvd drive? for usb boot just google 'windows PE usb'

the netbook has a restore feature, but formats everything on the drive. so i just downloaded knopix and their usb utility gonna see if it works.
