I'm Happy as a Pig in Shit!!!!!
My comp has been fuckin up. Just shutting off for no reason. Not because of overheating. Ran tons of diagnostics, nothing was wrong with anything.
It could only have been the PSU. I had a 650W and I have a 4870X2.
So today, went to my new store (used to shop at Futureshop....BestBuy basically, same people) where the people are all computer "geeks" and know their shit GOOD.
Got the sales dude to help me get an 800W PSU, got it installed for $25 (at FS, it would cost 99 bucks) and my comp runs fuckin 2x faster, my card runs cooler as the PSU has a built in cooling system (which apparently helps) and man.
HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!
Just had to share my happiness with y'all...not that anyone cares.
I've learnt a lesson however. Next comp I get, I'm building myself. Well, gunna go to my store (they only deal in high end stuff), get the guy to help me pick out the best of the best in every thing and have him put it together.
I don't have the patients to build a comp. I can but fuck....I'm a metal work and my hands aren't meant to work with small screws and spaces 
Tho, I won't need a new comp for a good 3 years. New vid card....prolly next summer.

But the 800W works like a charm and this built in cooling thing plus this "Silencer" thingy built in is AWESOME!
My comp used to sound like....a vacuum. SOOO loud. Now, considerably more quiet

Lots of things have happened in my personal life with family in recent weeks and I've been in a rotten mood and today.....worst mood ever (well not the ever but bad). Now, I'm HAPPY!!! Thats rare for me.
And since the woman decided she just wants to stay in and watch movies cuz she is tired from work....GAMING!!!!!! And then gunna wake her up around 3 or 4am for sex
Nothing better.....some good gaming and then good sex

this is how much your pc should consume 797w, that's with standard 4sticks ram/1hd/1dvd/audio card/some usb's on a peak load
u can always use psu calculator http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
it's pretty accurate

I mentioned in the other thread about psu's when asked what to get. Always buy large its pretty easy to overcook ur psu if you dont have enough umph out of it.. my 4870 is running at 41c idle on only 32% fan speed, and its rather humid today as well.

I'm at 35 fan speed and its running at 38C idle, 52C while playing a game. |

PS, order from NCIX in future. Less tax, INSANE selection, and they'll match any price. ALSO, completely nuts weekly specials.

Yea I've been there a bunch - thats the CC closest to me, 10 minute drive or so - when I'm not willing to wait for NCIX to get it to me (free next day shipping on my VIP acct, lulz). The people working there are all pretty knowledgeable and helpful. Not a bad word to say, but NCIX still gets my business first. |

I thought you were in Oakville? If you live in Oakville, Eg and Mavis isn't 10 mins away man....unless you live on the very western edge of Oakville. Then again tho, I don't know Oakville that much. Been to that nice mall a few times and partied there a few times but thats it. |

I can walk to mississauga in 15 - 20 minutes. I'm RIGHT at the edge. I won't say exactly where for obvious reasons. Im basically next to a major hiway onramp that I can take 1 exit to mississauga.
SUCH a sick place actually, as far as people inside go. They're awesome. |
