"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Yeah dunno i think i'll stay cautious, our shows and movies are usually so terrible and one god tier series like Dark just isn't enough to convince me everyone here suddenly knows how to make something good.
There are good german scifi shows? Which ones besides Dark?
None that I know of. Hence, my astonishment.

it was interesting but seriosuly couldnt they find better looking actors except varvara all are FUGLY, that kid with the cube you think his face melts all the time
just watch some french crime series before this, everyone looks like a homeless heroine addict they've dragged in from the street including dirty clothes, hair, skin.. + obviously everyone smokes and looks sick / yellow'ish.
Continental films tend to go for average/realistic looking actors/characters compared to Hollywood where all starring female actors were models before they became actors and the male actors are either chiseled or have pretty-boy faces. There are obviously exceptions, esp. in the male actor category.
I'll pick this up and put it on the backlog.
As for German shows, Dark is the only one I've ever liked as far as I can remember. As for German movies there's Das Boot (which was originally a mini-series, right?) and for it's notoriety and disgusting scenes Nekromantik 1/2 (they were notorious and as a young horror/cult movie aficionado they were seen by all people with the same interest).
This has the same producers. Though "producer" can mean anything and anyone can be a producer so it doesn't need to say anything obviously. I actually rewatched dark after really disliking it the first time, kind of liked it though i guess not enough to directly jump into S2 which i still haven't cared about...
I much prefer non hollywood movies/series, especially these days.
