I just bought a GTX 280.
I plugged it on my PCI-E port, put the 6-pin and 8-pin power cable, and when I start my computer, I have no signal nor "beep".

What is it?

Sounds like a problem with the motherboard. Whenever I heard this, it has turned out to be the motherboard touching somewhere and short circuiting.

I tried to power my MB with my extra 550W PSU, while the 620 one was ONLY powering the GPU.
Same problem...

If you have the physical and mental strength, do the following: Take the motherboard with everything on it out of the case and power the PC like that (put it on a news paper or something).

Yes I replugged my 8800GTX. Work flawlessly!

Guess I could try the GTX on another rig, but I'm the only gamer I know around me... Guess I'll have to go back to the store Sad

Anyway, thanks for the answers guys!!

I can upgrade the bios I guess.
And yes it powers up, and the fan is making a gentle noise Wink

i have had issues like this sometimes it was related to my overclocking i needed to up some volts & increase the pci express mhz to about 115-118 (on my old mobo) for my hd 4850 to work.try increasing the volts on the chip which controls your pci express slot.also do as vgadeadcafe said & update your bios first before anything.

I don't recommend overclocking or overvolting it, lol. You (theoretically) lose your warranty Very Happy

i personally never messed about with a vcard volts before but i usually overclock them a little for few nice extra fps.my similar probelm to HubU was because of my Q6600 overclocking which stopped my HD 4850 from displaying a signal (on my 965p-ds3) so i had to increase the pci express mhz to 115 or 118 if i remember correctly in order for it to boot.some people have to increase the NB volts to get it to boot.on my new EP45-DS3 i have pci express freq set @ 100mhz & NB volts i think 1.22 v.

Sorry I went out partying Wink

I went to the store and he'll change me my 280 for a 285 in 5 hours.
Guess I'll have to wait before I know if there's really a problem...
