Perhaps you just got an e-mail, like I did, or you're just discovering a new forum, either way you're probably feeling some elation right now. One of our most beloved games is receiving a sequel and we get to be here at the beginning and watch the developments as they happen. I can't really explain my feeling right now, but it's something similar to when another favorite game of mine had its follow-up announced after being absent almost 10 years. Jittery and excited. Even though I know it will be a long time before the game comes out, I can't help but gush to everyone I know about how awesome this is. I was wondering what American was frequently hinting at in some of his answers to people's questions. Now we know.
Post your feelings of excitement and some thoughts about what went through your head when you heard the announcement.
Here's the announcement I"m referring to:
"We thought you'd like to know...
At the DICE Summit today in Las Vegas, EA CEO John Riccitiello announced during his session "Don't Fear the Changes" on taking creative risks that EA and Spicy Horse will be teaming up to create a follow-up to the 2000 PC game classic, Alice.
Currently titled "the Return of American McGee's Alice", the game is still in pre-production and won't be completed for some time. You can visit the official site on Spicy Horse to sign up for updates, and stay tuned in to the American McGee forum or American's blog for news as it breaks.

^yeah all there recent games have been pretty shit, and I mean really low shit
Alive is pretty much their only decent game, Bad Day LA and Grimm are just shit
this game+fresh gfx+maybe extra content=instant win
american mcgee has only made shit since scrapland. don't wanna jinx it, but with this concept and EA behind it, there isn't really much that can go wrong.
yep i loved the original alice, the art design and concept were freakin amazing. i cant wait for this.. just hope the story is up to scratch and doesnt feel TOO Much like 'been there, done that, show me something new dammit'...
the first alice didn't seem too adult to me either. i didn't finish it, though, so maybe it picks up along the way, but what from what i played it looked like just another shooter from that era, just with a trippy level architecture.
I barely remember but the theme was very dark and your character was pretty disturbed as well. (Game started with you in a sort of mental asylum, pretty sure due to murder.)
it's not about how adult or dark it was, but just how they distorted and twisted the creatures/ppl/scenes. the cheshire cat alone was one of the greatest NPC designs in videogame history imho, even got the statue at home
Wait a minute, wasn't stated already that this video was fanmade? I think i've read something like that a few days ago. I'll check it out again and gonna post it then.
Wait a minute... I don't think the game even needs a sequel. The ending was pretty definite. Alice finally faced her fears and got out of the asylum and became a normal girl in the end.
the screenshots posted arent related though, why would american mcgee make a game based on the new movie that's coming out and call it a sequel to alice?

I'd hate anyone to think I was cynical but I reckon the biggest issue around this remake will be tryin to suss out who is more deluded; the people cheering on the release who actually imagine that the re-release will be in some way comparable to the original, or the people cheering on the release because they imagine that if only the greedheads pull more of these horrifyingly dishonest and blatant rips, most peeps are eventually gonna wake up to the way they get stiffed for their dough every time.
That's not McGee's Alice, it's Tim Burton's movie, completely separate from anything made by McGee (even though it seems slightly inspired by the original McGee's Alice game).
