That's what i thought, but my problem is, the 360 came without warranty sticker (From a major retail shop!). So I'm currently waiting for the new sticker to arrive so i can send it back to MS. And aren't they sending fixed 360's with non-flashable lite-on drives?

Id xclamp it. If you do it properly it will last more or less forever.

Status update; i have just called MS to get it picked up. in complete innocence i asked the man on the phone were the sticker should be, because i couldn't find one on my console. He told me that if they didn't detect any signs of damage from earlier attempts of opening the console then there would be no problem in getting it fixed, and that there was nothing to worry about. So i'll just have to wait and see what happens

Lite-on looks exactly like BenQ smooth surface all the way and no holes, that is a hitachi but they also come in multiple versions the v79 can only be flashed by soldering or by buying a modchip.

You don't need to solder the 79, all the Hitachis are flashable w/o soldering.
Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc

Right, but the 79 is a little bit tricky to flash, it requires some messing with pins and resistors.

The hitatchi drive in my xbox was my old drive, flashed with new firmware. the local xbox guru flashed it back to i-extreme for me. Turns out, the drive returned from M$ with a fucked laser that doesn't read anything but originals
So i made another appointment to have it picked up for repair...

Agreed.
They do it for free and it doesn't cost you anything in shipping. Take advantage of the easiest solution that's available to you; send it back.

so i just got the 3 rings. been pretty pissed bought that thing this june, flashed the drive etc. so i start looking for my invoice to register it on the M$ homepage etc. so i just go back to my room, to see (and endulge and aggravate myself) so i switch it on and the rings are gone? i'm like wtf? So i read that they might go away by themselves but do i have to live in fear now that they'll come back? Should I continue my search for the invoice to register the console on the M$ page to send it back (only to hear "naw, you tempered with it, go die now") or am i out of the biggest mess?
(btw. this can't have anything to do with overheating, today the xbox ran for about 10 minutes max)
