since my pc gaming days are over... i'm thinkin of buying a 360. but not a full out hardcore one since i don't play games. a 20gb one or sum shit like that. there's a gay little store that sells one for 150$ I know not one thing about the whole 360 bidness. but I wanna play some game that my pc will never handle. and i don't even wanna play with it online. do you need that xbox live bs to update it and whatnot?
And what the heck is all that elite, pro, premium arcade bs.

Elite. Sexxeh black case, HDMI output, Falcon chipset (or newer), 120GB hdd, Wireless controller.
Pro. Standard white case, HDMI output, Falcon chipset (or newer), 20GB hdd (some have 60GB), Wireless controller.
Arcade. Standard white case, no HDMI, Falcon chipset, no HDD, Wired controller.
Of course, different stores sell different machines - and you may end up with an ancient machine that lacks the Falcon (or newer) chipset. Ignore like the plague. Anything pre-Falcon is liable to die on you within a year.
You don't need XBL, but you get a free "Silver" account with every machine anyway, so you might as well keep it. XBL is used for game updates and downloads.

i dun wanna sign up for xbox live it costs money no. I'll prolly touch the 360 like once a week or twice a month when i got time. I dun wanna be spendin' extra money on summin i won't use.
The xbox the store's got is 360 premium with 20gb for 150 cdn
it's prolly used. even then i dun mind. I can flash it and such and play some games for a while and then let it collect dust.

XBL Gold costs money. XBL Silver is FREE. You won't get to play online, but you won't need to.
If it's a preowned X360, ask to check the power supply on it. Look for 175w. If it's any higher; IGNORE it. If it's 175w or lower, awesome!

In that case, you're pretty much set. Back when I flashed my drive, it required certain chipsets in order to read the drive on your PC -- mainly nForce and certain Intel/VIA ones -- but these days the flashing tools seem to support pretty much any chipset. If you get unlucky and don't have a supported one, then it's just a case of buying a VIA SATA card ($10-15, tops)

Hacks for consoles like the PSP and 360 are sweet. No soldering needing, just access to a PC and a few pieces of software. Average layman won't mess around with their console, so they'll happily pay someone to do it for them. Six PSPs upgraded to CFW and five 360s now. Awesome.

Yes, but you can only use 120GB -- and it needs to be a 2.5" SATA drive. I can't remember the procedure, but you can find it on Google somewhere.
