so I bought a new DVD RW I put the SATA and power cables and boots and is detected
only problem is when I put a disc in it, it just doesn't read it, it doesn't move at all
just like ate it and slept

any ideas please ?
running vista 64bit

Perhap's a bad dvd burner? try another burner on the same cable's, if that work's, bad burner.

check if SATA on the mainboard is good, test in other SATAs
check if it reads original CD/DVD
check Flash
check power and Sata cable

if all fails get a new drive

updated firmware and re checked sata cable and now it's working
