not a star but definitely a starter Wink

apparently he got hustled anyways, he was told he was playing a 'special kid' Wink

Quote:
Recently, New Jersey Nets guard Devin Harris was part of a very famous quick UK "streetball incident" in which a player named Stuart Tanner lit Devin up for a couple of baskets in a quick mini-game lasting just about a minute, played for the fun of it. Harris had been told it was a special olympics kid, but Stuart Tanner actually plays a lot of streetball in the UK. The first shot was just a regular nice close jumper, but the second wowed the crowd.

On Thursday, October 16 in New Jersey, InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner and a local reporter met with Devin Harris for an interview about the UK streetball incident. InsideHoops.com is the only place you'll find the full interview.

Devin Harris: It's just one of those things... it is what it is. People enjoyed it, we move on.

Question: I think the reason it's so popular is because every kid out there dreams of doing a little something like that against an NBA player.

Devin Harris: I'm pretty sure it happens every day. Mine, I just got caught off balance. Just one of those type of things.

Question: What were the circumstances in you being there?

Devin Harris: I was doing an interview, and then one of the people said 'hey, one of the kids wants down at the other end real quick before you go.' Just go down there and play a couple of points. The "special kid" became the streetballer, overnight, in a V-neck sweater.

Question: What was the actual event, that brought you there?

Devin Harris: That was one of the NBA Cares events. A court dedication that we did.

Question: So you're at the NBA Cares event, and then someone comes over and say 'hey, do this real quick.'

Devin Harris: Right.

Question: And then he knocked in the fadeaway.

Devin Harris: I thought that was a lucky shot in itself.

Question: A real high arc on that.

Devin Harris: Yeah. And then the fast dribble, I was a little bit in awe. He caught me, put it through the legs. Maybe it was the time difference [grins]. But no, he made a good move.

Question: NBA contract for him?

Devin Harris: I wouldn't go that far.

Question: [An InsideHoops.com reader insisted this be asked] If you and that dude played one-on-one to 11...

Devin Harris: I don't think he'd want to see me anymore.

Question: I'm thinking winner's outs, once you got it again...

Devin Harris: Oh, he doesn't score again. But it is what it is. It's fun. You laugh with it. It's popular!

Question: So game to 11, you're taking it 11-2.

Devin Harris: Oh, without a doubt. Not a contest.

Question: [Some InsideHoops.com readers wanted to know] Are you a streetball fan?

Devin Harris: I watch it sometimes. I've been to a couple of events, the tours, the AND 1 stuff. I enjoy it... they're talented people. The creativity that they have... they come up with things all the time, that you haven't seen before. It's a different type of basketball. It's creative.

Question: A lot of the tricks aren't legal in regular basketball, of course.

Devin Harris: Yeah but still, the creativity to come up with something like that. The things that I saw, I watch it on ESPN every once in a while... stuff they come up with, legal or not, it's still some things you haven't seen, or some things you wouldn't even think of doing on a basketball court.
