My first template, hope it's okey. Think I got everything important...
Going to see it now, I've only checked the different releases so far but the [niizk] looks much better to me. I've been wanting to see it ever since it premiered, but nothing but shit releases has come out since then, and a week or so ago, the dvd was released on the net, found out now, so uber excited. Miyazaki is my number one favority anime-movie director, he's great. He makes movies that shows that anime isn't all for children... Though, this movie in particular does seem more aimed towards children, but I have no doubt it'll be good, I haven't disliked a single movie from him so far.
Saw it 4 days ago, was disappointed.
The whole movie felt like a big bag of fluff. It looks very nice but that's about it. Story/plot is virtually non-existant. Her father was criminaly underused too, one of the things that bothered me most. He was pretty much the most interesting character in the whole movie. Nowhere near Miyazaki's or Ghibli's best work, not even close.. You won't dislike it but don't expect it to top other Ghibli masterpieces.
I also watched the niizk release btw. Translation seemed a bit dodgy at times. That, or some heavy duty post tl editing occurred.
Oh well, on to eva 2.0..
it's true, I did watch some that had pretty decent plots, it's just not easy to dig the good stuff up from all the childish crap out there, especially that I don't know the language. I did watch ghost in the shell Movie 1& 2 , 2 was kinda boring with all the quotations that didn't make much sense (probably because I was just tired at the time), Dragon ball and northstar are from my childhood and they were pretty damn good. not saying I never watch anime, I only look for ones with really good plots ( no teenage group that fights a special kind of monsters etc), something good along the lines of death note, where morality isn't forced on the characters.
