I've decided to grab myself a new set of headphones as the ones I currently use (Sony MDR-V500) get pretty painful after a days worth of gaming.. They kind of sit ON my ears which I think is the problem. I'm looking for a good pair that sit over the ears, but I dont know a huge amount about headphones!
I dont mind spending up to around £120 if its worthwhile, I was looking at the Grado SR80 and Grando SR125 but read reviews saying they were very uncomfortable, which is the opposite of what I want.
Thoughts?

the barracuda headphones are certainly audiophile quality as they were to be used with the cm8788 chip, which is the most advanced audiochip. No X-Fi doesn't compare.
It's the chip thats in the Asus Xonar and Auzentech X-Meridian.

No, but I'm planning on getting either those or the cheaper HD555. I'm not sure HD595 are that much worth it. I recommended them because that's what I get on every forum I ask.

Another issue you have to worry about is amplifiers... The mid-to-higher end of headphones will require amplifiers to sound well on a puny sound card.

I own the Sennheiser HD 270 headphones. Image
They didn't cost me that much, they sound really decent and best of all: they fit perfectly!

The Grados have better bass. But overall HD555/595 are better. Plus, I hate on the head strap. I much prefer the behind the head one.

I have the Icemat Siberia headphones and I love em, the only drawback is that they're not a real headset, they come with a terrific microphone but it's just a small clip-on and not actually integrated with the headphones. If i buy a new pair i will probably try the Razer ones though, they seem sweet

EDIT: The thing i like best about them is that i find them very comfortable. They fully envelop the ears which is really nice. I don't play extended periods of time anymore but back when i played WOW i had no comfort-issues after an 8-hour raid-sitting
