Anyone else hate this saying? People always say this shit and while its sort of true its only half of it. The fact is everything "falls" in the end as nothing lasts forever. It doesn't matter if there is pride before it or not. If this was the case then Emo's would be living wonderful lives as they seem to have no sense of pride being miserable all the time. But yet I don't see many Emo's living perfect lives.

I say if anything pride lengthens and enriches a life. Without pride we would let everything and anything walk over us and let us feel like crap and never achieve anything worthwhile (like Emo's) Imagine a world where people had no pride. Inventors would never dare to dream and we wouldn't even have huts to live in. Explorers would never exist and man would be in complete fear to step out of familiar territory. Science (including medical) would be nonexistent. Everything that we have achieved simply would have never come to be and mankind may have never even lasted this long. Yet we have the foolishness to make pride a thing to be avoided and shunned.

guess it depends on how you see the saying... i see it as saying those who get too cocky risk failing.. but i agree, many sayings i hear today are pretty silly and are poorly/over used.

Its a good saying. It reminds you not to get off balance by success. Another good saying is before enlightenment chop wood carry water, after enlightenment chop wood carry water. The point is the same. No matter how great things are going keep you head. Its like when your having sex, let your enthusiasm get the better of you & its all over. Wink
