Mirror’s Edge

Code:
Developer:         Digital Illusions CE

Publisher:           Electronic Arts

Designer:           Owen O'Brien (senior producer)

Engine:               Frostbite Engine

Platforms:           PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360

Release date:    TBA 2008

Genre:                First-person shooter, Action-adventure

Mode:                 Singleplayer

Code:
The game concentrates on movement, and aims to expand and reinvent the sense of movement which is currently lacking from first-person games (in the words of senior producer Owen O'Brien, "to place you in the world and convey the strain and physical contact with the environment"). Although the player character can hold weapons, O'Brien stresses, "Principally, this is an action adventure. We're not positioning this as a shooter - the focus isn't on the gun, it's on the person."

Though set in seemingly utopian city environment with low crime and clean streets, the world is also one inhabited by an authoritarian government regime and unbridled levels of surveillance. In this world of communications monitoring, the only way to deliver confidential information between parties is to employ couriers (called runners) to physically deliver the information. The player character controls runner Faith, employing parkour inspired movements to reach her destination. Aside from Faith there are rumors of other potential characters to choose from. This information comes from one of the official site's administrators.

i think it loox pretty good, vibrant i like it, motion blur effect very well implemented unlike in any other games i've seen so far [usually switching it off if possible]
it really stands out from all those grim, dark and grey as our lifes fps's

I see that Parkour is becoming quiet the hit lately, i think that it's the 3rd parkour themed game for the xbox 360.

I just hope they don't dumb it down for release. They have set themselves too high, and might not actually achieve everything, but hopefully most of it will actually be in the final game.

Flashpoint: Elite on Xbox1 had 4 maps each over 100 sq. km, the Island on ArmA2 (Chernarus) is something like 230 sq. km.......

Yeah, there are enough free roaming games on the 360 that prove his point is a load of fanboi bullshit.

Assassins Creed, Two Worlds, Saints Row, Crackdown and Just Cause all have huge open areas. I don't see what being a FPS has to do with it.

Considering that Flashpoint:Elite used streaming technology to load the data from the DVD seamlessly without any loading signs it clearly shows you don't know what you're talking about Wink And no the textures were not washed out.......

Ok, my new job includes access to a lot of working builds so I played this one as well.

One comment: it's great for the first half then it gets impossibly frustrating when roof-jumping supercops are always on your toes. 7/10 I'd say.

Dunno, I've never replayed a storyline game unless it's Deus Ex, Fallout or NOLF

So it's just a week away from my cheap Silver ass! Razz

BTW, although I'm pretty excited about this game, I've got two great fears about it : linearity and longevity. I mean, from the teasers/trailers, it feels a bit like a "corridor" game (try and try and try a main path until you master it). As for the length of the game, I'm anxious about it to be ubber short (running like hell for like 10 hours or so???!? I doubt they can achieve that).

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong and they're keeping most of the content secret so we all can be pleased! Smile
