I bought the ASUS DSBV-D and a 8800GTS...

I use Windows Vista... I can run anything I want without any crashes or problems...
But one problem :

The PCIE 16x is only on 8x Sad

$ffffffffff ----------------------------------------------------------------
$ffffffffff Display adapter information

$0000000004 Bus type : PCIE

$000000000e Base address 5 : 00002000 (I/O range)

I have the inbuilt ATI turned off with a switch...
The BIOS is Phoenix which blows extreme chunks because there is NO options for anything really... Nothing to choose... Sad

Any ideas how to fix this ???
Thanks...

Isn't the CTRL+F1 combo used to access more advanced features on Phoenix bioses? Try that, see if you can't select the PCIe to be 16x.

Not that you'd really feel the difference with an 8800GTS, but I'd also prefer for it to be 16x, just because it's there (and because I've paid more).

Owww Smile

The funny thing is that it doesnt say press CTRL+F1 for advanced Options anywhere... Sad

Will try that...

Thanks...

EDIT :

Doesnt work, there is no CTRL+F1... You might be thinking of America Megatrends BIOS...
Phoenix is the grey/blue color and has almost NO options... Crappy BIOS, blows...

Thanks for the Idea... Smile...

difference are very very tiny, sometimes none at all

it's just like agp 4/8x Wink

if everything is stable i suggest u stick to it otherwise wait maybe for bios update [which i doubt will make any difference] or get other mobo, but it will be waste of time and money

Neutral

Well, you might as well try these combinations as well:

Quote:
try this:

Phoenix BIOS: (F1), (F2), or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc)
Phoenix BIOS: - Ctrl Alt S
Phoenix BIOS: - Ctrl S
Phoenix BIOS: - Ctrl Alt Ins

Maybe your bios just sucks, and there are no advanced features... Razz In that case, try to look for some Windows application that has low-level access to those features.

CTRL+F1 are hidden tech guys that fix your comp options , just re-check the existing menus after you press this combination , there should be new options unlocked

Crap... Maybe ASUS is just stupid...he he...

There is a "boot" option (CTRL+S) when starting but thats not anything for the HHD and such...

When do I press these buttons ???
When the Comp says Press DEL for Setup ???
OR
When Im in BIOS and press them ???

Damn should of bought Intel MoBo for my Xeons... Sad

Thanks for the help... Gonna try pressing the buttons...

EDIT :

Well, tried the buttons and nothing came up, but the boot...
Wish I had the BIOS like my older Tyan MoBo... Millions of functions...
This BIOS only has like 4 menus and nothing under them, but the MEM speeds and CPU Speed...

You have to be in the BIOS setup screen, and then press the aforementioned keys.

Here:

You should see more tabs. I had such a BIOS on my old nForce 4 mobo, and I had the advanced features.

Well, I was there and tried all the buttons mentioned... F1 is only a Help splash screen...
All made some "beep" noise and nothing happened...
Only CTRL+ALT+S didnt "beep" but nothing happened either...

I did find something in the "PCI Configuration" menu :
"Clear the Extended System Configuration"... Dont want to mess with it though, since it doesnt help at all by just saying it clears it... Dont want to screw up the Computer...
Already blew up 3 Power Supplies...
