As i am going to Taiwan in the morning (flying out of Japan) I will for sure roam Taipei in search of some new stuff, like the ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA X48 (as it is not yet out in Europe) now what do you guys think, should I get some shit hot DDR2 RAM cheap! or go for DDR3?, I guess still cheapish compared to anything in the EU. I figure I can get like 4 gig of OCZ DDR2 PC2-9600 at the same price as any 2 gigs of DDR3 RAM.
Its sort of crucial as it might effect which mobo I will get.

LOL! hm, well I think I am leaning towards DDR2, but I will see what I find in Taipei. But the dick swinging does have a certain appeal to me

- PC2-8500 2Gb Ram = ~$150-250 (Corsairs are one of the best around thus represent the high end ram part)
- PC3-13800 2Gb Ram = ~$250-500 (Again.. Corsairs are the high end part).
So you honestly have to justify what you plan on doing with your workstation but I would never EVER skimp on the three things: CPU, Motherboard, and Ram. EVER.. these 3 things make your system last WAAYY longer than any HDD or Video card because those 3 are the focal point of your work at all times.

Ok I went for the sort a budget option on this one (will wait with DDR3 for when the next gen Intel CPUs comes end of the year, Nehalem and co) I just ordered 2 gig of PC2-9600 DDR2 Flex XLC Dual Ch. Kit 1200MHz 2G Kit 5-5-5-18 -OCZ2FX12002GK, for 150 Euro!
LINK that with my ordered Asus Rampage Formula X48 (DDR2) and my E8500 (in my PC desk drawer at the mo) should kick some arsh I guess
