So i got quite a dvd collection that i would like to convert to mkv files.

What is important is the following

Be able to convert the video to x264

Able to convert audio to mp3 ogg vorbis , or simply not touch the audio at all

include the subtitles to the mkv automaticly

not as complicated as virtual dub, but not lacking any must have options

no bloatware ala nero , i think dvdshrink is sorta the best example of what kind of software i am looking at.

So basicly i wanna convert dvds to 2GB mkv files with x264 for the compression original video resolution , not compress the AC3/DTS stream , but able to convert the commentary tracks to ogg vorbis + add the subtitles.

Thanks , i know im quite damanding Smile

Not sure if it does everything you want it to but a great freeware app regardless.

checking it out now , looks pretty good.

anyway i cen set the audio so its not converted and keeps the original DTS track?

worst case scenario i could always extract the DTS and remux it into the mkv

If you don't mind me asking why are you wasting your time, resources and storage on DVD reencoding at this day and age? We are in HD era, just get amazing quality x264 1080p or 720p bluray encodes. You seem to be dwelling in the past with your DVDs.

well i do have a big 720/1080p collection, but many movies arent out in HD yet, so making mkv files the size of 2GB each compared to the dvd copy which would mean 4-8gb per movie.
