Smash Brothers X is a crossover fighting game published by Nintendo for the Wii console. As the third installment of the Super Smash Bros. series, this title once again features a diverse roster of characters from Nintendo and its second parties to fight in various kinds of matches. It is the first game in the Super Smash Bros. series to feature third-party characters. Most of the game's music is made up of arranged versions of pieces by one of 38 renowned video game composers that originated in previously released Nintendo video games, though some play exactly as they did in their original games.

As with its predecessors, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a departure from traditional fighting games, notably in its simplified move commands and its emphasis on ring outs over knockouts. This installment also includes a deeper single-player mode than its predecessors. Known as The Subspace Emissary, this mode is a plot-driven side-scrolling video game featuring Brawl's playable characters. Super Smash Bros. Brawl supports multiplayer battles with up to four combatants, and is the first game of its franchise to support online battles through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

It does work on PAL but you have to run it in the right hz, think it's 50 and something about disabling 'deflickering' or you'll get a black screen. More info on other sites..

Is also two versions out there, one is a single layer rip without working single player. The other is a proper dvd9 which requires an update for most modchips for it to run. I think cyclowiz will work, but wiikey I think needs an update, as does wiid.

Oh and it has an update so you need to do the trick to avoid duplicate channels..

when u update the fw from another region, it duplicates the channels....
I've done it for us and jp now, so triple channels.
U should update ONLY with the same fw version of your console, otherwise u risk a brick.
In this case I have 3.1E and the game update is 3.1J.

Apparently the DVD9 rls works on wiikey, but the original doesn't. That's why most ppl assumed wiikey lacks DL support.

"WiiNewz can now confirm that the recently released full Dual Layer (DVD9) dump of "Super Smash Brothers Brawl" works fine on Wiikey, including PAL systems. Apparently, the chip has problems reading the original copy but a backup works fine. I guess everyone got their panties all in a bunch over nothing."

You gotta love a modchip that causes problems when you purchase an original game and support the developer...classic I say. But yes, the full-rip works fine on Wiikey, as mine is a NTSC-U one with the latest firmware update (1.9g or whatever) and latest update from the Big N and the game works fine...fun as hell too.

Obviously, I was not referring to the fact that it "promotes" piracy, since that much is obvious from the very concept for the most part. I was referring to the fact that it disallows you from playing an original disc, which in my experience is still rather rare even with a modchip installed. I never had that problem with ps2, gamecube, xbox, or even 360 as everything played, whether backup or original. I was merely commenting on how "ass-backwards" the WiiKey seems to be most of the time, let alone enjoying little support from the team who made it. But either way, 'tis all good.

How can you tell which update verion a game will install.

I have a d2ckey installed. If I update using the nintendo service, then burn Smash Bros without brickblocker or whatever, as long as the game installs the same update, but a different region, I'll be good to go?

You will be able to play the game, but you will also get duplicate channels in the wii menu (2 of them will get duplicated) unless you peform something called the "15% trick".

Playing it on my Japanese Wii and don't like it, I'm not a beat em up fan ....

And I have to say after getting my 47" 1080p tv and playing 360 and Ps3 games it's so hard to go back to the Wii .... No More Heroes is just about bearable

Yes, exactly like Mario Galaxy is a kiddy GTA... douche.

The game mechanics are entirely different, none of that 360 degree fighting system, good oldschool "2d". Also no life bars but the more hits you take the further enemies can smash you out of the map. Take that and awesome 100 feet high air fights, unique char abilities and you got pure gold my friend.

You should really try it instead of bashing it because of its colorful characters. And it's not like I despise other beat em ups; I kick ass at Soul Calibur and Tekken on my PS2, but you really can't compare those with Super Smash Brothers.
