Hmm! I got that Autodesk Max 2008 (c) Autodesk *DVDR* ISO and it was working fine when used it a few months ago, but a few days ago when I started it up it was asking me to reactivate, and now it's not working anymore.
I can't activate it because it's not accepting the keys from that release anymore or something.
I'm on Vista btw.

Just wondering if anyone knows a fix for that problem?

What firewall are you using? Are you blocking outgoing packets?

I tried fully disconnecting from the internet and it still didn't work so that can't be it.

I also never had to block it before, it was working right of the box without any problems for weeks.

By default, Vista only blocks incoming packets with outgoing packets free to send whatever details willy nilly. I use Vista's firewall but have it set that both incoming and outgoing packets are completely blocked unless I create a rule to allow.

So what I'm saying is that all your previous times launching 3ds Max with outgoing packets going unchecked, you have no idea what information was sent and consequently I'd guess it's along those lines as to why it's stopped working.

I may be wrong about all that, but then again, 3ds Max is working here.

hehe yeah I reinstalled like 5 times.
I even deleted all 3dsmax files in the documents and appdata folders but there seems to be something left that I can't find.

I guess the only way to fix it would be to format but I'm not in the mood

just switched back to 3dsmax 9 for now. it has some problems on vista and there are some plugins that I can't use without max 2008, but oh well...

It's just a little hobby of mine to play around with 3dsmax once in a while, I don't actually need it for anything serious (in which case I guess I'd have to buy it anyway) so 3dsmax 9 will have to suffice.

Yes, Vista's firewalls cumbersome interface sucks the monkeys gonads, but it is effective nonetheless Smile

But I will have a looky @ comodo before I risk life and limb and apply RTM SP1 when available. Ta Smile
