I have no idea if I am posting this in the appropriate place so I apologise in advance if Im not. My ISP sucks big time so a have a simple question for you guys ! Witch newsgroup have a best offer ? Im looking for something between 15 - 30 GB (monthly). Now im off to surfing ( wind one ), any directions will be much appreciated !

hmm im with giganews and no complaints so far (except the price ) so is newshosting as good at retention and 99% of all files complete? if so i'll switch.. cos its 10 dollars cheaper for unlimited..

Are there really real releases hosted on there (I guess so because you seem to use it ) but paying for it? That sounds kinda gay to be honest. Is it really worth it (I have other ways to get what I want, so would it really cut it for me)? Enlighten me...

Yeah I think thats the point really Reg, if you don't need the retention then giga is pretty expensive for a service you can get somewhere else. Although, that is disreguarding the speed and stability of newshostings servers (I don't know, so im disreguarding it as something I can judge the two services on.)..

But it is worth noting I have never had an issue with giganews, like, ever.. in 3 years.

Think about it like a giant set of public email inboxes.. everyone can read the emails.. and some emails have files attached. Its as simple as that really. You pay for the reliability and the speed, I max out my 15MB line without fail.

You also have to know what you're looking for, as not many posts have a decent title. So if you type in Da Vinci Code you might not get anything, but if you type in zn-tdvccda.avi you will get plenty. Wink

not true. just change the search to 'files' mode on newzbin or use binsearch.info ... you'll see the files as they are posted Wink

on newzbin you can only see uploads "in progress" if you have a premium account afaik, and binsearch is pretty ok with their updates... 1F U C4N R34D 7H1S, U R34LLY N33D 70 G37 L41D

I use http://www.news.astraweb.com/ as my usenet provider at the moment as buying GB's of download space suits my needs better than paying a monthly subscription, but I have found http://usenet-news.net/index1.php?url=get and wondered if anyone had tried them? They have 71 day retention and Astraweb only has 25 days.

If I go unlimited then will I be able to share the account? i.e. 2 different IP's downloading at the same time? There's only about 3-4 months of the year that I use usenet heavily, some months I hardly leech anything from usenet and that's why buying in chunks suits me better. I have been thinking about sharing an account with a friend for a while and if it's possible to share then I'm interested.
