live with it, me and my brother are both bi-polar, inheriting it from my mother.
but the drugs are crap, they make you dependent, which makes it hard to kick the habit.

Depression isn't a disease per-se,
more like a social disorder.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

of course its not a disease, but when your mother is away for months at a time couped up in hospital for being a depressed alcoholic, when you are too young to understand whats going on, it does tend to affect you. all i can say is, thank god my father is such a strong person.

It's a psychiatric disorder. You can't 'catch' it from someone but nevertheless it can't disappear all by itself without treatment. That's what makes it different from an ordinary bad mood.

lol, the psychological effects are the symtom - the cause is social. Hence it's a social disorder. As with anything, eliminating the cause is what cures people.
Psychiatry is so retarded. Here's an analogy for you:
You come to a hospital with a broken bone, complaining about the extreme pain.
The doctor talks to you for awhile and prescribes you with some strong pills for making it hurt less and tells you to continue living as usual.
These pharmacy-companies make tons of money from sponsoring hospitals and "psychiatrists" to use their medication - and the end result is a whole world believing that it's all about psychiatry.i

I used to be depressed for about 5-6 months in my teenage years.(LOOO-ong time ago)
To be honest, I can't even remember what caused it or how I got over it...
All I can really offer as a small bit of advice: don't think too much about everything, you'll just end up going in circles anyway without ever taking action, or trying to do something about it. Try to find some things you enjoy in life, whatever they may be.
I also used to smoke a lot of weed, about a g a day on average, but I just felt horrible on times I ran out. In the end I all but quit, I still smoke sometimes but it's been 2 months since my last bong by now. This whole year together I prob only smoked about 5-7 bongs or so, that's all. Alcohol has a far more positive effect on my mood, but that could ofc just be a personal preference.
If you can, try some magic mushrooms/truffles for once, they pwn!

Wll, I didn't mean you should think of drugs as being the answer..
Fact remains, drinking 2 or 3 beers after a good meal is a lot better than worrying yourself sick, and that amount isn't even necessarily bad for your health but it will do wonders for your mood. I know that much for a fact. The problem lies in your mindset.
So I say again: (prob useless but why not try anyway?)
All I can really offer as a small bit of advice: don't think too much about everything, you'll just end up going in circles anyway without ever taking action, or trying to do something about it. Try to find some things you enjoy in life, whatever they may be.
Oh, and don't watch the news too much, that shit would depress anyone!

Oi depression is fucked. it's not thinking about things that'll depress you. You're constantly depressed and you can't seem to get out of the mood and be happy. You're in a ditch basically and they prescribe you drugs as a way to give you a ladder. You take them and you start getting out of the ditch but you never do get out.
It's not like being overly sensitive and let shit depress you. There's a cure for that. Weed, alcohol, sex. The depression he's on about is a constant state of emoness. You're always feeling blue and shit. Down on your luck and nothing in the world affects that. You start thinking it's you and that there's nothing you can do to fix it. You go see a shrink who pretty much prescribes you placebos and when they don't work you get so fucked up and hysterical (cause nothign will work) and you attempt suicide. It's not a cry for help it's pretty much an attempt to escape. You don't go through with it the first time, so you try again and again until you're successful. or until the pills work. but for them to work you must want them to work and that's the first step of curing depression. getting in control of it.
it's fucked. Depression is the shit. I've known far too many people with depression and it pisses me off. it's hard to cheer them up. And you always wonder what they're worrying about.

You are talking about psychiatric disorders which I wouldn't even consider Depression as being one, even if it is under medical standards.
It's a product of modern culture/society I believe. As for the REAL mental issues people have that others somehow relate/associate with depression in whatever way shape or form - well that I understand.
But I guess I am aiming what I said at the 90% who fall under the catagory you outlined.

Kamel I think they think of bipolar disorder, which is real depression, when sb says oh I'm so depressed, it's just current state of mind, but when sb has bipolar disorder than things can get really bad

Clinical depression is a serious psychiatric condition that needs to be treated like any other disease. It is a "REAL" mental issue, trust me i know what i'm talking about
