Sphere and Independence Day makes sense tho

Sphere is one of my favourite movies and 'guest from the future' does actually make sense...just kinda gives away the story line and such

Its still one of my favourite movies. I think its really interesting and I liked the book (read the book before the movie came out).
Event Horizon is also one of my favourite movies

I dont see how sphere is a ripoff of event horizon. EH was about hell and shit and horror. Sphere is about an alien entity that bestows powers onto humans and such

Either which way, I like em both

Never seen Solaris. I checked the link tho. Looks cool. Gunna see if i can find it at the video store.
They didnt do a remake of it with Tom Cruise did they? Didnt tom cruise star in a movie called Solaris a few years back?

They did a 2002 remake with Clooney that has the same story, but it's crap. The 1972 version has Tarkovsky's direction and cinematography. Also it's the scariest shit I've seen - like midgets and laughing children running through the space station (hallucinations) etc.
There is a 2CD internal or ind release with proper eng subs - seen it posted twice on usenet.

P.S. i said ripoff because all three movies are totally similar - the horror comes from inside your mind, and not in physical form of monsters. And it's activated by some out-of-this-world supreme being/intelligence. Hell or aliens - it doesn't really matter.

Oh, I getcha now. Smile yeah, its more a psychological thing than in your face horror and gore
Thats what i like about it tho, provokes the mind. I love shit like that. Movies like that scare me good because my mind runs wild

Btw, this one is highly recommended too:

Stalker (1979)

Near a gray and unnamed city is the Zone, an alien place guarded by barbed wire and soldiers. Over his wife's numerous objections, a man rises in the dead of night: he's a stalker, one of a handful who have the mental gifts (and who risk imprisonment) to lead people into the Zone to the Room, a place where one's secret hopes come true. That night, he takes two people into the Zone: a popular writer who is burned out, cynical, and questioning his genius; and a quiet scientist more concerned about his knapsack than the journey. In the deserted Zone, the approach to the Room must be indirect. As they draw near, the rules seem to change and the stalker faces a crisis.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0079944/

That's what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is vaguely based on (together with the book)

No, there's never been any dubbed versions. But subtitles from US/EU DVD releases are available for download.

And the book (roadside picknic) is being distributed freely on net net in many places. Allthough I simply just cant read it from the screen nor self printed paper.

There's also a US movie coming up http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0837157/ (not much info there ;P)
good luck challenging Tartovski. It's rumoured to be directed by David Jacobson

That's just the tip of the ice berg. The new idiotic thing is taking the english name and changing it to another one. Like 'The Brave one' is called 'Stranger In You' and 'Equilibrium' is called 'Cubic' here
