Sphere and Independence Day makes sense tho
Sphere is one of my favourite movies and 'guest from the future' does actually make sense...just kinda gives away the story line and such
Its still one of my favourite movies. I think its really interesting and I liked the book (read the book before the movie came out).
Event Horizon is also one of my favourite movies
I dont see how sphere is a ripoff of event horizon. EH was about hell and shit and horror. Sphere is about an alien entity that bestows powers onto humans and such

They didnt do a remake of it with Tom Cruise did they? Didnt tom cruise star in a movie called Solaris a few years back?

They did a 2002 remake with Clooney that has the same story, but it's crap. The 1972 version has Tarkovsky's direction and cinematography. Also it's the scariest shit I've seen - like midgets and laughing children running through the space station (hallucinations) etc.
There is a 2CD internal or ind release with proper eng subs - seen it posted twice on usenet.
P.S. i said ripoff because all three movies are totally similar - the horror comes from inside your mind, and not in physical form of monsters. And it's activated by some out-of-this-world supreme being/intelligence. Hell or aliens - it doesn't really matter.

That's just the tip of the ice berg. The new idiotic thing is taking the english name and changing it to another one. Like 'The Brave one' is called 'Stranger In You' and 'Equilibrium' is called 'Cubic' here
