I HATE HANGOVERS!!!!!!
I'm nauseous, can't sleep. I feel sick but I can't barf... It feels awful! Why didn't scientist invented some super cool drug that prevents hangovers? Or alcohol beverages that don't induce hangovers? I love to drink (every now and then), but the morning afters are killing me! In fact I would probably drink more often if there were no hangovers... aaaa... how do you guys get through it, any special remedy that you could recommend?

I never had hangovers. Just drink quality drinks and drink a lot of water before you go to sleep.
That's the magic cure to prevent hangovers.

eat/drink before sleep, I tend to do powered oats & cordial (hence food + liquid) and sleeping tabs. Best hangover cure ever!

When the body attempts to break down and remove alcohol, it creates a highly toxic byproduct known as acetaldehyde. After too much alcohol is ingested, the toxins build up faster than the body can flush them out and voila -- a hangover.
Dehydration also plays a major role in hangover symptoms. Alcohol is a diuretic -- it increases the amount of urine the body releases. The more alcohol you drink, the more precious bodily fluids your body actually loses. Your kidneys and liver need water to dilute and eliminate toxins. If there is not enough water available the body restricts the amount of water going to places -- such as your brain.
Sadly, no cure for hangovers exists save rest. Rehydrate the body with water, fruit juices or broth
If you can stand to keep food down, eating may help replenish any nutrients lost through nausea. Soothing concoctions such as ginger root tea help calm the stomach. Aspirin and other over-the-counter medicines can help dull the edge of a hangover.
Basically DRINK! any liquid except ALCOHOL!

Sugar and sparkling water. Helps me every time.
Except in case of thermonuclear hangover.

You only 'barf' out the orange juice. And it's not good going out. Shit's acidic.
Greasy food before you drink helps with a large consumption. You eat too much and drink too much your eyes will roll and you'll black out while you're on the floor puking. Not a good thing if someone's having a house warming party and you're the only one who brings a bottle of whisky and you finish it alone  aaanyway everyone deals differently with hangovers. Sometimes light's too bright, noise is too loud etc... best cure, honestly is to eat something and go about your day. Get used to it. Seriously. It's normal. It's natural. I smile when I have a hangover Doesn't touch me. Also that I can't sleep well when I had a lot to drink. So i sleep like 4/5 hours after a night of drinking and i wake up somewhat refreshed
is all i can say. Learn to live with it. Don't fight something that's natural.

I've read that tomato juice helps. I have just started to feel good again When I woke up I pumped myself with vitamins and magnesium, then went to sleep and now I'm fresh. I feel reborn @ Waldo: to stop drinking?? Wtf? As long as I live that will not happen! I'll listen to your advice and try to cope with it, whit lots of good advices (one advice from me: never mix beer and wine or other alcohol, its a killer!It isn't fun not to mix but...)

I always get to mix Tequillas with Vodkas and Beer (not at the same drink though) and it was never a problem for me. Though Wine got me a small headache (drank it like water)

I mix too, but it's not good to mix. I'm not saying you mustn't do it, just that if you mix you'll more often have headache (especially with wine )

For a hangover I recommend lots of water before you go to sleep. Plus a tynolol. Perhaps a banana and a small glass of milk for the electrolytes.

If you have really terrible hangover in the morning,and you were not able to force yourself into drinking the same shit(ye that's kinda masochistic,but works like a charm to neutralize the hangover),you were drinking in the evening ( in my case it's mostly vodka),then beer is the best.After that you are ready for second day of heavy drinking,and third..and forth.Just don't think about your liver and kidneys
The rules to stay in game and avoid puking are really simple.
*Eat enough when you drink.Ye,as WaldoJ said,consuming greasy stuff before heavy drinking helps to prolong drinking.
*When heavy drinking,and you have to drink something else along with your beverage,don't drink gassed shit like coca cola or gassed non-alcoholic drinks,since those drinks facilitate alcohol absorbing.
*Don't mix drinks.If you have to,than still make some drink your main course,and don't drink much of others.If you had to mix,than always go with increasing the percentage of alcohol: beer->strong wine->vodka,whiskey,tequila.Not vice versa.
*The main rule:empirically you'll have to know,when to stop.
* If you feel like puking,puke,you'll feel better
If you drink in small quantities,than you may ignore those rules. |
