So i think it's time to try overclocking as my hardware is getting pretty old by now. I have a asus 570GTX direct cu II and a amd phenom x4 970 Black Edition and the motherboard if that has anything of relevance is Asus Crosshair IV. I don't have a stock cooler and the one i have is http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=430950
I don't know the first thing about overclocking as i've never done it before. I have somehow overclocked my cpu now, but i have no idea what caused it all i did was activate OC utility in the bios and it tried installing smartdoctor which failed due to an eio.dll error, and now it's 3.79GHz instead of 3.51.
So i hope someone can give me some pointers on that front. stock value i had 45c and after this mysterious OC i have 47c but "core temp" software registered 51c at max. What do you think about?
And I would like some pointers in OC'ing my GPU as well
You need to put manual settings to get best results. I would say put 1.425v CPU vcore and raise multiplier to 20x to get 4Ghz clocks, if its stable, raise it 1x at time. Dont expect it to run even at 4ghz at that volts (silicon lottery). Hard to explain it more further with words, just google some guides (any Phenom II BE x4 guide is enough).
