It isnt faster then a 8800GTX...

Quote: | ATI said in front of 150+ journalists that the R600XT won't be able to compete with the Geforce 8800 GTX. The dream is dead and Radeon HD 2900 XT won't be able to catch up with the six month old Geforce 8800 GTX.
ATI said that R600XT, Radeon HD 2900XT has about the same performance as the 8800 GTS. Radeon HD 2900 XTX won't be launched in mid may and will be delayed to Q3 2007. We already wrote about this here.
The dream that AMD can do something and return as the high end market leader is gone. R600 trails against G80. Congratulations Nvidia. |

Disappointing. I mean its nice to still have the fastest card on the market(besides the insanely priced factory overclocked one). But I feel bad for the big red company from canada who used to make kickass cards. And for the chipmaker who came out with the cool codenamed processors like 'shark' and 'sledgehammer.' Now they are like one big company that can't do anything right.
Sure DAMMIT can come out next round with something that blows competition out of the water. But it's really damn hard to picture it, when the biggest splash they can make right now is competing with the competition's second-place card monthes later.

Tweaktown has released the official review today but their servers got hammered so badly that they took it down until tomorrow.

Dude, Im quite sure not a single tweaked driver will make it any better then the G80s flagship... Also take note on the official ATI/AMD statement.

Lol, where are all those that said AMD would dwarf anything nVidia has out in the market... I can't say how overjoyed I am for not waiting for this crap!

/shrug i hoped for more , its same price as the GTS and is faster/slower depending on game benchmark , so they didnt fail , but i hoped it would be closer to the GTX performance , but i guess we have to wait for the XTX to compare those .
hopefully those drivers will mature fast , cause the card has great potential .
We got a few months to go till the first full blown DX10 games are out and then the majority will look for DX cards , will be interesting how good the mainstream cards perform against eachother also .

yup , 8800 drivers had 6 months to mature , granted they did manage to bring the card out earlier .
2900xt/xtx or the respin will be my new card in august/september , so i hope till then everything will be ironed out .
About ppl screaming ATI getting owned i am not so worried , since the 9700 pro nvidia never had a faster GPU in the same generation and many still bought nvidia .

Why in gods name did they use WoW as a test game? It looks like shit and a 3 year old system could run it. They should have used FEAR and/or Quake 4

Wonder how much they paid I mean a test showing over 100FPS....just plain and simple tells you you don't need these cards to run the game and makes the test irrelevant.

And, didn't AMD push the release of R600 to be able to create the ultimate drivers? If nVidia is winning with the crappy, (admittedly) unoptimized DX10 drivers, I wonder what will happen when they start optimizing them...
