|
 |
Help,
I'm gonna get a Router so I can play X-Box live finally on my X-box 360. The only thing is I don't know whether to get a wireless one or not, when you have a wireless one doesn't it slow your internet speed a little bit or is it as fast as not wireless ....
Could anyone tell me what's better or give me a ist of pros & cons for each type .... Thanks in advance

Wired is the best choice as it offers better speed and reliability.
The cons of wireless is slow speed, it can be interfered from other electronical devices and has problems passing through certain materials. The pros is you don't have to hassle with wires all over the place.

If you can easily wire your Xbox with your router, go for wired. As Parallax_ said, it offers best speed and relieability.

From the title it looks like you are looking into Buying a Wireless or Wired router... Personally I would buy a Wireless Router and just use a wire to connect the 360 to it. Then you have a wifi ready router for when you also need Wifi

Speed generally has nothing to do with it so don't be fooled by that. Unless you have a super fast net connection (i.e. 25Mb/s + ) then the wireless is always going to be quicker (unless you live in a castle with thick walls). You have to remember that its not a problem provding you can keep the wireless speed above the net connection.
The wired connection is far more reliable though. The only downside is the cables around the house

You are right about the first part, but wireless quicker than wired? Come on man. I don't see wireless _ever_ coming near the speed of optical cables.
Besides, I just assume people use their network for a lot more than just plain browsing. It's always smart to keep an overhead of bandwith. And in that case, wireless just will not cut it.

Yes, of course. But I still prefer wired because of the aforementioned reasons. And of course, when it comes to LAN only, it is also superior.

There nothing more comfy than a good ol' lan cable running through the house I'd go wired too if the cables can run okay without ruining the look of the room. If they do I'd go wireless and put the thing near the xbox then hook up the xbox with a cable.
