Yeah if you've got a router you can use that.

Well if you want to save cash go with a switch as someone said. The only problem is is you'll have to have your pc on when you're using the 360.

Not as far as I know. I just bought a cheapo generic one from my local shop and it works perfectly.

Get a router, i wouldnt even connect my PC to the internet without a router. Any generic one will work. I used to like linksys, but i have been having massive issue with them at work. The Dlinks i have used work well, but i have blown up 2 of them due to cheap or faulty Zener Diodes in them.
I havent tried netgear.

So if your ISP only gives you the one IP then its more difficult, but if its all the ISP's where I live they give you 5 dynamic IP's so with a switch you can have 5 simultaneous machines active on the internet.

¨Not really on topic, but how long is the ethernet cable that's included in the Premium package?

About 3 metres, maybe more.

Most ISP's give one external IP. It matters not what you run behind them. you can have 254 IP's behind the modem and no one would care, beyond that you'd be buying more hardware.
As for the problem, use a cross over cable and share the internet connection via the PC. Switch or router is pointless if you've just got the PC and 360 sharing the connection.
You would of course have to have the PC on if you wanted the 360
