it's not "only steam" protection
if it was there was already a release.

like steam rip or something.
games with "only steam" protection are quite easy to crack.

if no one want's to release a "steam rip" so why they Released
Braid,Zeno Clash and more?

Were you born 2 minutes ago ? This isn't the first time unprotected games take a few days to get released. Just chill out and wait.

It would be interesting to know if revloader works with the steam version, so that we can be sure it's not protected only by steamstub.

Got ahold of the required files though I still don't have the actual game yet but I assume this will work for those who have it if the game is only reliant upon the Steam program.

Extract the archives to the game folder but first rename the EXE file for backup purposes and then edit Rev.ini and alter the location to the new SteamClientX.dll file or rather the game folder (This file might not be required but is provided anyway.), for those who use the Steam version but wish to test this move the game folder away from the Steam\SteamApps directory to avoid Steam from starting when the game is launched. Smile

(Then just launch RevLoader.exe and it should start the game.)

http://www.sendspace.com/file/29r08s

If it works it'll have to do until a proper release is out with a modified executable to remove the Steam dependency or perhaps the retail EXE is properly cracked.
(SecuROM, Tages or whatever it'll use.)

EDIT: Oh right, thanks to the person who provided the EXE for the Steam version as the game is not available here in Europe yet and thanks to those who created the Rev loader utility which this method relies upon. Smile

Well f*ck me sideways...it worked. Very Happy

I did what jbeckman said, moved the ghostbusters folder to another location, edited rev.ini and started revloader. Worked like a charm.

Time to make a rls I guess, unless the method works with the p2p version out there.

Lazy scene.

Thanks for the quick response, P2P disc version would perhpas work (It's just a ISO image of the retail copy) but the EXE will need to be replaced first, have to get to work now though but good to hear that it actually worked. Smile

Very nice, I wonder if it works, don't have the p2p image.

In rev.ini , it should be :
SteamClientDll=SteamclientX.dll

EDIT: saw prokaan's post cool Laughing

Nice to see a scene release as well, guess one can just apply the crack to a existing installation and revert back to the backup file (And loader) if they ever release a patch to say implement MP or perhaps just fix some bugs. Smile

Bit funny with the timing but such stuff happens. Very Happy

No coop in any version. PC version doesn't have MP but it's twice cheaper than console version. MP is crap anyway.

Atari Admits Skimping on Ghostbusters PC - briefly

A few days ago I posted a news about the PC version of Ghostbusters not having any sort of multiplayer component. Now Atari has responded via Big Download admitting that consoles were their focus and they put more of their resources into those which ultimately led to no multiplayer on PC:
