Ok recieved all my new stuff today, 680i mo bo, conroe chip, 8800
put it all together fine, booted from cd, got the blue screen where it asks you to setup windows, it copies the files from cd then says 'restarting' then it restarts, theres some HD and CD activity then it stops, the tower is on but my monitor doesnt start up.
then managed to kick into the proper windows install, have to clear cmos in between.
its something to do with the reset function. I managed to install windows in the end, then I installed some mo bo drivers and it asked to restart I said yes and blank screen, I dont even hear the familiar beep before the monitor goes on, the monitor stays off.
Seems the only way to actually see anything is clearing the cmos memory everytime it restarts.
What does this point to? my reset power in the mo bo, my reset button works if I push it, It seems to always do it if its the computer doing the resetting, any settings I need to change?

Could you try setting PNP OS to NO in the bios? There might be an ACPI bug in your bios, causing it fall back on PNP, which can cause a problem in windows when registry isn't synced with the ESCD (where the bios stores it's configuration info for devices)
